  • I packed for 7 days in an underseat bag 2 years ago. I packed 3 changes of clothes and washed half thru the trip. Granted It was a mountain hiking trip so no fancy clothes needed. As a larger lady I have larger clothes so thats also a consideration when packing. I love my under seat bag.

You are the BEST! I’m an 80-year-old lady, always a minimalist packet, and still I have learned from you!
  • @gitakiss5801
I have used my daughter's old lunch bag that attaches to backpacks as my toiletry bag. It isn't so weird to see an adult with a kid walking through an airport with a mini mouse bag haha. But lunch bags can be cheaper than toiletry bags and they attach well, They also have that lining so if something spills it doesn't leak through as easily
  • Wow, you did fit a lot in that bag! I purchased the very same and found it so convenient. Fit perfectly under a Southwest window seat. I was able to pack, 2 outfits, shoes, sweater, liquids bag, kindle, iPad, small empty purse, makeup bag, electronics cords, wipes, sanitizer, medication , snacks and water bottle and the contents of my purse in the outer pocket. It holds a lot! Great tips for minimalist packing Laurie.
  • Lay out your clothing you intend to take, and at this stage you can have all your options laid out, and then select your capsule wardrobe. This has helped me. I generally take twice as many tops as I do bottoms. But I could get by with fewer bottoms, like 3/1. And remember that just because you are allowed 3.4oz, doesn't mean you have to take 3.4 oz! I've found containers that hold as little as .5oz and for some liquids, that's all I need!. I found out that 3.4 oz of shampoo and 3.4 oz of conditioner will last me 2 months - mind blown!
  • Well, we finally got to Finland after over 3 years of cancelling all the plans I made. Northern lights, swimming in frozen sea and walking on solid sea ice. Just lots of fun. Loved every minute of it! Flying was super and all your wonderful hacks over the years helped out a lot.
  • Just received the rolling under the seat bag you recommend here. Game changer!!! OMG! Didn't think there was any way this would work for a month taking trains around Switzerland and Austria this summer. Almost put it back in the Amazon box to return. I used this little suitcase, the packing cubes you recommend that squish down, and the black and white striped backpack. I was a pro photographer but not taking my gear since I've been going on YouTube and have learned how to get that quality out of my iPhone 14 Pro. :) 8 dresses, 4 workout/hiking (leggings, tops, bras), 8 pairs of socks, toiletries, 2 sweaters, pareo to cover my shoulders and wrap around as a swimsuit coverup, swimsuit, long sleeve bamboo hoodie to layer, 1 pair sandals, 1 pair white tennis shoes to go with dresses. Clothes washing strips to do laundry. I can't believe I'm going for a whole month in these 2 little bags! Now I have to go unpack all this and get back to cleaning house. LOL Laurie, I couldn't have done this without your guidance! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! And my husband thanks you since he won't have to carry my bag along with his as we run to catch our trains. Mahalo!
  • I love who you are ! You don’t assume everyone is going to do exactly what you say, you are so gracious and generous that you are just sharing . I like that. Thank you 😊 ( oh, and I have just watch maybe 20 of your vids in the last 3 days . You don’t know me but you have a new family member, my name is Kelly 🌹💁‍♀️
  • I'm good at packing light for trips but I always like to see if I can learn something new from your videos. I also put things inside of shoes to keep them safe and take advantage of that space.
  • I always save the smaller sample jars/containers from makeup counter samples or gifts at the department store to decant liquid make up and face creams for travel. Also, for travel in countries (Europe!) where you are rarely given washcloths I take an old washcloth and cut it into 4 squares- I use them and leave behind as I travel so no wipes or cotton pads needed. It really saves space and for a 2 week or so journey it's more then enough!
  • Hi, I have been enjoying your video a lot. I have traveled with just an underseater like yours to China in summer for 2 weeks. I am a petite person and I only wear simple type of clothes. All of your ideas are great but I have some ideas that you might like. It is to bring sheet masks that are very thin, usually comes in a thin ziplock like package. Use them instead of toner, That way I don't have to put them in liquid bag, and I can just slide in the side pocket or between clothes without adding bulk. And days go by, you have more space in your bag, because they are disposable. Another tip is to wear silk materials. If you have 3 silk t shirts, all combined and role them, instead of roll them individually, you can save a lot of space in the bag. Also silk material can dress up or down. And it dries quickly when you wash them. I only use cubes for sweaters of anything puffy and really stuff them in the cube. Let me know what you think, looking forward to more videos!

Great tips, as usual, Laurie! Glad I found your channel to prepare for my international trip later this year. I’m trying out all kinds of packing ideas, bags, and learning all the tips and tricks! Thanks!
  • I've found that salad dressing jars for lunch boxes ( 1 oz.) are more secure than many travel containers. I pack jewelry in old prescription bottles. Keep the videos coming!
  • I absolutely love your videos!!! They are so helpful and practical. I'm going to London and taking only personal item and under the seat carry on. I purchased the compression bags and am following your packing suggestions, not too much, just enough clothes and will coordinate with two pants, and a few tops. Will shop the second hand shops for fun and take home something! Thank you for all your awesome advise and sharing your experiences.
  • Brilliant! Wasn't sure you could do it, but I should have had faith! Loved those neutral wedges that you didn't pack - just went and bought them! Hooking the liquids bag to the suitcase is another great hack!
  • Hi Laurie. I have followed you for years and as a frequent overseas traveler I have used so many of your tips. However in the last year in four different trips the airlines have started weighing carry on bags and are not allowing more than 7 kg (15.42lbs). That is really hard to do if you have electronics that’s must go in carry ons. It means I have gone to a backpack only for a carry on because most small bags add too much to the weight. Any tips you may have would be really appreciated. It is meaning that I am checking a bag more often so a warning to fellow travelers that this has started happening. These have all been non US airlines and has only been a problem in the last year. The US airlines have not done this yet but I suspect it is only a matter of time. Thanks for your inspiration and for your awesome advice. I am 74 years old and still heading out regularly.

I'm traveling to Oregon for 8 days in May. I'm taking a carry on and a personal bag. I bought the black and white striped bag and packing cubes you recommended. I can't wait to use them!
