  • We've been making Punching Weights for six goddamn years, so I decided to put together a mega-video of all the times we covered Nintendo peripheral doodads. I hope it'll help you study, sleep, or relive the weird, ambitious and unnecessary!
  • @Simon-dx7fs
If uncle Derek thinks I am going to watch the entirety of this video then he is absolutely right
  • @mustard_96
42:21 “but to be fair the e-Reader is a way dumber method, so that’s a point in my book” Derek just perfectly described this channel in a single sentence. I love it
  • @LordArikado
The thing I love about Uncle Derek and Producer Grace's videos is the comfy vibes they all give off. Even though it's obvious that a lot of in-depth research goes into them, they still feel like one of your friends telling you about this neat thing they're interested in.
  • @Destragond
Lol, dude, I just realised something hilarious. Lately I have started watching the recent videos on this channel, because I just got a random urge to play and research retro consoles. Then later I looked up what NES games I still have on my PC from the last time I played an emulator years ago and I noticed "Metal Storm". I couldn't remember where I knew the game from, but after a while figured out that it must have been from this bizarro alternative version of AVGN that I watched ages ago, the "Happy Video Game Nerd". I was wondering what that guy must be doing nowadays and then suddenly realised that these are the same channels! Congrats on keeping up the youtube game through all these years.
  • I love that you turned the HVGN into a career for yourself, and made your channel your own, rather than a spinoff of another fellow on YT lol. One of my favorite channels.
  • @moomoocupcakes
For one brief moment I thought you had 3.5 hours worth of something to say about a Nintendo peripheral.
  • @cncgeneral
So impressive that you managed all this in 1 take! The set and costume changes must've been rehearsed to perfection!
  • 3:44 Loving the random use of Tomba! theme music here. I feel like this game hasn't gotten enough recognition over the years!
  • @TheAtoll
Yo, Derek, I can't tell you how inspirational your long-form deep-dive videos into the obscurity of video gaming have been over the years! I am still plugging away at my Waterworld focused YouTube channel and I just got to 1000 subs! Thank you so much for your motivation, it's keeps me going too!
  • @SeaDubya
Cowards are too afraid to upload 4 hour videos, but I truly hate watching anything under hours. Derek, you’re a hero.
  • Whenever I have a crap day, Uncle Derek comes clutch with banger videos. Thanks Uncle Derek, for keeping me sane during these trying times. ❤️
  • @addcombatinenvy
I just found this video and I can't tell you how happy I am to have my young new uncle walk me back through every peripheral I forgot I ever owned.
  • @Kohaku9002
Not gonna lie, this is a really cool way to bring more attention to older content. Really convenient to do a deep dive into the content.
  • @jchambon
is this an invitation to stay up till 4 am while also rewatching some ssff classics?
  • @Marusame
Coolest DS slot peripheral I owned is a purpleish GBA cart that has a 3.55mm headphone jack and a couple of buttons and it gets power from the DS. What it was is a FM radio, so you can listen to the radio while playing a ds game on the go.
  • @SkyFallXIII
Has anyone else watched this video several times now? I’m def over 5 times now. It’s just something easy to throw on in the background and listen to. Uncle Derek’s voice (and Producer Grace every so often), is so very comforting and relaxing.
  • @lucasmoreirar
I'm loving this. I can't help but expect something like a How The West Was Worse collection. Which WILL happen, right?
  • I remember having a GBA to GC Link Cable. I loaned it to a friend and she'd let me play Pokemon Colosseum. In the end she asked if she could keep the cable and I could keep Colosseum. She beat it multiple times already, so I felt it was a fair trade.
  • I just want to say I appreciate you for not taking yourself too seriously and still being able to provide super obscure information that's entertaining at the same time, good stuff man.
