Old 150 Ton Hydraulic Press Vs. New 300 Ton Hydraulic Press

Published 2024-02-17
Today’s showdown is epic – our old faithful 150-ton press vs. the new beast, a whopping 300-ton machine. We’re putting them to the test, crushing the same stuff side by side to see how they compare. Kicking things off with a solid steel pipe, because why not?

You’re going to hear the strain, see the stress, and maybe even feel the pressure right through your screen. The old press has been with us through thick and thin, but is it ready to take on the new kid on the block? Let's find out together.

And hey, we’re also taking a quick tour of our new setup. We've got bulletproof everything – windows, doors, you name it, plus an AR500 steel roof because we mean business. And the lighting? We’re blasting it so bright, your screen’s gonna need sunglasses. It’s all about getting those crisp, clear shots for you guys.

So, whether you're here for the nostalgia of the old press or excited by the raw power of the new one, this video’s got something for everyone. We’re pushing these machines to their limits to see what they can really do.

Smash that subscribe button if you're into watching stuff get crushed with obscene amounts of power. Thanks for tuning in, and let’s get crushing!

  • Have you considered building into the window frames a channel in which you can drop a panel of 1/4" thick clear optical-grade polycarbonate? These panels will protect the very expensive windows from hard flying debris, and will be fairly inexpensive to replace as they become damaged. We love your channel!

The year is 2050. The Hydraulic Press Channel now has 1 billion subscribers. Lauri just finished setting up the "Super-Duper Planet Crusher 5,000,000", a custom-made hydraulic press with 10,000 tonnes of maximum force. The bunker is now made of 30cm of AR500 steel, with a full 10 meters of reinforced concrete behind it. You watch as he prepares to crush an entire Russian BMP filled with nitroglycerine, while filming it at 10,000,000 frames per second at 16k resolution with a 360° high-speed camera. Life is good.

You should still use sacrificial plastic window in front of your expensive bulletproof windows to keep them from getting all "smudged up" from shrapnel bouncing off of them!
  • @ViggaTron
This new setup is becoming so freaking awesome.
  • The mic on the pump array brings so much to thr video. What a good call. The new press and bunker are and awesome upgrades. This is a new era of the channel. Very exciting!

I'm pretty sure that's how they made the toilet paper for my school a few decades ago!🤣
  • @supercompooper
I think this new press isn't just more powerful, it's smoother. I believe that the weaker old press would induce some struggle vibrations or stress fractures in some of the materials you were crushing with for. This new press seems more continuous in its delivery, and it will be interesting to see how that expresses itself.
  • Can't tell if you were saying "sheet paper" or "$h!t paper" 😂 Can't wait to see the completed setup!!
  • @joemarchinski914
" Holy shit , I knew this was stupid". Love both of your attitudes..full grown adult kids doing dumb but very cool and responsible shit....and obviously having a really fun time...love your videos and channel 👍👍👍 " holy shit ".

I will say it again: I love these pump sounds! It adds so much to the real experience of HPC.
  • @quenchize
To reduce the echo you can hang curtains along one wall, or another option is to bolt wooden battens to the wall at 20-30cm intervals that disrupts the sound reflections

New press is terrifying. I love it. Still, there's something nostalgic about the old one. I can't wait to see what new content you have cooked up for us.
  • @jonnysmith549
I love to see stuff being set up properly and safe. Ofc this doesnt replace safe behaviour and procedures like you probably already had but that overkill bunker makes it look so much more professional.
  • 30 years ago I was a crane operator in a steel roll forming factory and I used to crush surplus metal barrels with 12,000 pound coils of steel and they would collapse in on themselves like your pipes did. Getting firewood and kindling is a breeze for you now !.
  • @microbuilder
Pause at 4:58, looks like a face lol Cant believe how long I've been watching this channel, awesome to see the new setup coming along, heres to another near 10 years!
  • @-tr0n
I've been watching for years and years now, and been hearing about a 300 ton for almost as long! Very excited!
  • @RT-qd8yl
5:40 the sound followed by the laughter... Perfect 😆
