  • MONTANA is calling me. It's my favorite state. If I only had the money I would move there. Then I could watch the majestic elk crossing and the beautiful horses in my front yard. Hello to absolutely every resident in Montana.

Saw my first herd cross right in front of my car in 2019 going to Beartooth. Got up to 97 and quit counting. I was impressed at how a few bucks would stop and wait, as some passed, then go on, and another would take his place as the others passed. (kinda like roll call for a certain section). They were beautiful to behold. Very orderly in their crossing

I am guessing this is the Yellowstone migration? I bet there some good shed hunting thru that area

You live in Bozeman? My great-grandmother's whole family moved to North Dakota from Maine, she ended up moving back here, but I have family out west in Iowa and North Dakota, her family name is Conant. It looks really beautiful out there. I live in Maine. Thank you for sharing this.
  • Incredible ! I have seen herds in the Park and on the Gallatin many times but never this large. The lead cow surely plays a wicked game of chess !!!
  • Could you imagine how it looked on the great plains in the 1700s, probably much like the Serengeti

Are herds usually that big? Safety in numbers I guess.
