There's a poem that says, "People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime." I've always thought this is so true!
  • @bumblebee_ms
Those of us who grew up with toxic parents had to learn everything the hard way...on our own.
  • Vera about the wallet example. When my son was about 10 years old he found 200 dollars in the laundry mat while I was doing laundry. He wanted to keep it. I said no because that could be someone rent money and they may come back looking for it. So I turned it into the laundry mat owners. My son said to me mom how do you know they won't keep it. I said I don't but that's on their conscious not mine. I thought that was the right thing to do.❤

I've discovered your channel recently, and although I don't practice minimalism specifically, I find your videos and your perspectives about life in general so soothing, so down to earth, and so encouraging at the same time, that I find hope while listening to you. Thank you so much for the content you share with your audience. Thank you for your calm voice, for your simple aesthetic (and notice that when I say simple, I mean it as a compliment in this modern world of over-simulating images and loud noises and in-your-face product placements, etc.). Thank you for sharing with us the knowledge about life that have taken you years to learn by trial and error. I wish you a speed recovery and much success in your future.

Good basic advice. I’m 75 and had to learn these lessons myself along the way more than once. We tend to forget to take our own life advice at times along the road, but age makes one’s priorities clearer and clearer. No time to waste fretting over people and things that don’t serve us well.
  • I know my uni friends and I don't have much in common beyond student life. It makes me sad, and I often find myself feeling that these friendships are somehow 'fake' even though I love hanging out with these people. This video got me thinking that maybe what matters is not that we stay friends forever. Maybe what matters is that we give each other good memories. I'm going to try and make the most of the time we have left.
  • 'I you're feeling bad and it's night time - just go to sleep!' I can confirm that this works wonders. Super loved this Video! ❤ Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Regarding your example of returning the wallet. I have a simple logic. Would I be happy and thankful if someone returned my lost wallet? Then of course I know what the right thing to do is. We need to help create a nice world for ourselves and our children. Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙏🏼

What a great video Vera. I actually found someone’s wallet who was in Chatham on vacation. He had set it on top of his car and driven off. I found a business card that showed he worked at a newspaper in San Diego CA so I called them and said someone must know where he is and left my phone number. He couldn’t believe I tracked him down and said no one would do this where he lives but long story short I wouldn’t be able to look myself in the mirror if I had taken his money. ❤
  • #2 - Yes, I understand your "work friend" articulation. I learned this after my first long-term job and letting that go was freeing. Life is a journey. Some people will come in and go out and that's okay. Our capacity for close friends is less than our eyes realize.
  • @kendrascorner
So many nuggets of wisdom here! I so agree with listening to our gut. Isn't it amazing how many times there's no logical reason why something should be wrong, but our gut tells us something is wrong, and it ends up that they're actually IS something wrong with the situation? It would do us all well to listen to our intuition more often.

I love your insight and transparency. I’m almost twice your age and everything you say resonates deeply with me. Maybe it’s an HSP/introvert thing? What a beautiful life you have ahead of you putting your words into practice. Love to you Vera 💖
  • When I was young I felt guilty that I liked some friends more than others and tried really hard to improve the relationships that didn't click as well. Then I realised it's because we are all different and we will resonate more with some people than others.
  • Heart ❤ of Kentucky. Hi VERA in the NETHERLANDS. I so appreciate this message. I need to trust my gut feeling. I've just prayed for you and your love ones. ❤ GOD BLESS 🙏 YOU VERA. You are SUPER TERRIFIC! Katie.

Your channel, I'm sure, helps many people. In addition to clearly communicating valuable life advice and personal anecdotes, you are warm, genuine and personable. Your channel stands out and I wish you ever-growing success.
  • I found out your videos today and I have watched 3 in a row (HSP, Burn Out and this one). I feel really really represented by everything you tell about your personality (and previous traits), and I feel like I have a lot to lean from you 🥹 thanks so much for your channel! Also your voice is very soothing. I have me/chronic fatigue syndrome that is like a massive burn out 😓 I got it after covid. It's been 2 years now, and I am slowly getting better, but still a long way to go. Your advice is very very helpful for my reality 🫶🏽
  • Thanks for the sound advice & your vulnerability. You have a gift for getting your insight across 🌸
  • Thanks Vera! #7 spoke to me the most. I feel so tired right now and lack energy yet often times I do not go to sleep when I should. The change of season always has affected me. Even when I was younger. However it is getting more difficult now that I am older ( in my 50’s) to get motivated and stay positive when it is dark outside. God bless you!
