From sniping elites on the surface of installation 04 to the viral theater ricochet clips we see online, Halo’s sniper has been a consistently classy and fun weapon to use in the series. Each iteration of the sniper had its own unique voice and ambitions and seeing as the wait for Halo infinite will be a bit longer than expected, it should prove fun to take a walk through the series’ history with this long range beauty. As always, if you find yourself enjoying the video, subscribing and liking the video would be most appreciated!

The halo ce cursed mod broke me. everytime LNG is looking around with the sniper rifle i expect the barrel to act like a wet noodle...
  • Honestly Reach's version was my favorite purely for its ability to tear vehicles apart. Made me actually feel like I'm shooting an anti-materiel sniper rifle.

Isn’t amazing how well CEs reload animations hold up for a nearly 20 year old game

5:46 As it turns out, Halo 2 never had/used hit-scan weapons at all, the reason why they are so fast is because Bungie increased the projectile speed of all the human weapons to 400(BR,SMG,Magnum) up to 1200(Sniper,Beam) units per second instead of the 100-250(?) Units that H1 had; and in addition to the wonky netcode, Halo 3's weapons are dramatically slowed down especially the BR which is at 180 or so Units. Then Reach came along and jack it all up to 1200 for every human weapon and its been like that ever since. Great Video as all ways!

The Defiance of Yasmin sniper from the first Destiny has a VERY similar sound to the Halo sniper. Hmm, I wonder why... But my goodness, the Halo sniper is the most badass gun I've ever heard in a game.

I hope Halo Infinite is successful in every way possible.

"The hell am I supposed to do with this INSIDE a Covenant ship?"

Some some people asking for the H3 track at 7:20 :) it’s actually not H3! A friend of mine and I composed it the other day while hanging out and trying to make “Halo-y” music. She’s ridiculously talented and made a pretty badass Cowboy version of Walk in the Woods https://youtu.be/Hj6kM8H1W1I

The Evolution of the Warthog would be a great video, especially if you include the Spectre and Brute Prowler in the discussion

I like how Late Night Gaming has such a peaceful and quiet voice for these types of videos.
  • I'd love to see "The Evolution of the Carbine." Arguably my favorite weapon, it's basically the Covenant version of the Battle Rifle except it's semi-auto instead of burst fire. I LOVE the sound the Carbine makes, it's basically saying "POW POW POW!" every time you fire. I was very disappointed with the sound change in Halo 5. It's sounds like firing a pea shooter instead of a deadly precision weapon.
