  • I've owned several old school Smith metal frame 9s and 40s. Never had a single malfunction with any of them. They aren't quite as classic as their revolvers, but Smith sure did know how to make them well back then.
  • I picked up a5906 LE gun, it was my first hammer fired pistol, (New to the pistol game recently moved to a free stated after living in NY, it is great to shoot trigger is much better than any striker fired gun I have shot
  • @CornCod1
Not throwing any shade on the plastic gun people,as I have a couple, but in my old age, I like all-metal guns!
  • I had to escort a Customs Agent out of our office a long time ago when he was on a fishing expidition. He was a retired Michigan State Police officer. He carried one. I owned one for a short time, but much prefered the Browning so I got rid of it.
  • George. Good to see you hopefully doing well. Thanks for the review but also the history of the items you showcase. Such good information. Informative. Very much appreciated. Max
  • hope your medical treatments are going well. I wish you the very best. this is a nice gun, what else to expect from S&W. I still have a good condition M39. this could have been a private purchase gun . I miss the metal semi auto guns from S&W
  • The IL State Police adopted the S&W Model 39 in 1967. They were the first large law enforcement agency in the USA to adopt a semi-auto handgun as standard issue.
  • Hope your feeling OK enjoyed the video as always, thanks again Mike in Minnesota.
  • What were the past 20 years I have had many different models of the all metal Smith and Wesson from two digit, three digit, and four digit. All are excellent firearms.
  • I carried one on duty for a while. Terrible with hollowpoints. Later went to a 439 .less ammo but improved grips. None of the early series were particularly accurate. The I'll. State police dropped the 50 yd part of their qualifying because of this. Massad Ayoob wrote an excellent article on these in the early 1980s in American Handgunner. Thanks
  • My EDC is a CS9.......3RD GEN S&W 39........I also love my 469, 669, 3904 and 3906 only that the CS9 is just a little lighter, smaller yet fits the hand superbly and very accurate.
  • As I recall, the advent of the 59 & 39 caused kind of a poop storm among some of the Colt gov't model people. The gun magazines were awash with pros and con articles.......I had a couple accidental double taps when I first got my Glock 43X. Never had them with other Glocks. ...Always look forward to your input.
  • first wonder 9 excelent gun sort of a double action 1911
