I would like to try to explain this music to people who are neither Roman nor Italian. Piero piccioni is one of those interpreters who perfectly represent the scent of Rome, the voice of Rome, from the 60s-70s-80s, dreamy, nostalgic, elegant atmospheres, sometimes light and carefree, sometimes full of feeling , pathos, melancholy .. Alberto Sordi, his great friend is the fulcrum of all this and in each of his films we can find similar sensations. Other performers who have the same effect on me are also Ennio Morricone, Stelvio Cipriani, Armando Trovajoli, Berto Pisano..and perhaps others that I forget..I would also like to add that even today, perhaps wandering around Rome at night listening to this music, one can to be able to relive a little echoes of a bygone time.
