This is the extensive, but brief history of every Source game to come out. There's a lot.

The Source engine is the second engine made by Valve. Based off their previous Goldsrc engine, the source engine made dramatic improvements, and excelled in many things at the time. So much so that many developers have made mods and games from it.

Valve is so dedicated to not counting to three that they made a series of three game engines and called the last one “Source 2”

21:01 fun fact: portal stories mel was so hard that they made the entire game easier and put the original game as the ”advanced mode”

IIRC VTM: Bloodlines was released the same day as Half-Life 2 because they were almost out of money and their license for the Source engine from Valve required them to wait until HL2 was released before their game was released. After release Bloodlines only got a few patches before Troika shutdown due to having no money and the hame is still broken af if you dont use fan patches. The game is absolutely amazing and when you install the fan patches, its completely playable. I highly recommend it for anybody who like RPGs with many character options and decisions.

You've forgotten about Team Fortress forever. It's just Tf Classic, but on the source engine

In "Horizontally Spinning Rat", players take on the role of a genetically engineered rodent with the ability to spin horizontally at incredible speeds, dodging bullets and slicing through hordes of enemy robots with ease. Developed by Valve and published by Ubisoft, this first-person shooter defied expectations and received universal acclaim from critics and players alike. Despite its unconventional premise, the game's innovative mechanics and polished gameplay made it a standout title in the genre. The game's development cycle was marked by intense focus and experimentation, with the team at Valve pushing the boundaries of what was possible with their proprietary Source engine. The result was a thrilling and immersive experience that left fans of the genre eager for more.

There are a lot more Source games than I expected. Even though it is an old engine, it is definitely not one that feels cumbersome but is enjoyable. 5:46 Missiles blessed by Source physics.

E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy was a spiritual successor to Streum On Studio's mod for HL1 called Sydicate Black Ops.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is 100% a game people should try, even if just because of the kick function and the ragdolls being so fucking hilarious with the Source engine physics. See an enemy? Kick him down the stairs. Or freeze the floor right in front of him so he slips, falls on his ass and is now vulnerable. Or grab pottery to throw at his dumbass face. Why even bother with weapons, gravity is the strongest force of them all.
