The Midlife Metamorphosis: Reclaiming Health through Intermittent Fasting and Hormonal Balance

Published 2024-03-18
I am delighted to have Dr. Tabatha Barber joining me today to discuss functional gynecology and her latest book, Fast to Faith.

Dr. Tabatha has dedicated her life to giving women a voice and a choice regarding their health and well-being. In our conversation today, she explains how the functional approach to gynecology differs from traditional gynecology, and we dive into the benefits of fasting for women, discussing whether women should approach fasting differently than men and looking at the reality that gynecologists are surgeons and may not be hormone experts. Dr Tabatha also explains the significance of recognizing your period as your fifth vital sign and how to reclaim your health through her 40-day Fast to Faith program.

Despite facing personal challenges early in life, Dr. Tabatha continues empowering women to prioritize their health and well-being. Stay tuned for our enlightening discussion on women's health, functional gynecology, fasting, and more!

I'm very grateful for functional medicine. I grew up watching my mom fall down the sick care rabbit hole. She would never question what her doctors were prescribing her. Not even seeking out a second opinion.
  • Good information, very interesting. I never ate when I first got up, it was probably a couple of hours before I could even think about eating. Then when I signed up to for the 21 Jumpstart, Dr. Youn talked about fasting, now this doctor Dr. Barber also talks about fasting. I have tried to stay on a healthy diet after the Jumpstart programme ended, but there are times when I splurge. For example they have a fellowship after church. There is always a lot of sweets. I did not want to eat all those cookies and sweets, so I took a bunch of fruit for myself and I still enjoyed the socialization. On the other hand when the church had a pancake supper on Shrove Tuesday, I ate everything and enjoyed it.

Love her knowledge!! But I sure am missing Michigan right now!! Thank you 😊
  • Yes the stomach is the gate way for everything, And fasting has been practiced by probably thousands of years in the Eastern civilization, which is much older then are western. How old school traditional ways meets modern medicine. Fasting is the best way in repairing our cells, the only way your body is able to do this is by having a empty stomach. 🙏

What is a board certification in menopause? Listening to this and seeing her website this seems like such a scam. "Other gynecologists aren't experts but don't worry, I did some niche training that makes me better than other doctors because they're just a business so you should trust me to fix your hormones instead (and oh even though being a business is bad you should also buy the labs and supplements I sell on my website)." Right.
