Don't be afraid to reclass your whole team. None of them are optimized, and they made it available so early for a reason 🙏

I would also change her subclass from shadow to literally anything else
  • @FlintWestMetal21
ive been considering doing exactly this with her. That way she can have a much better spell set. Also, the primary reason her firebolt never hits is because it is intelligence based and she generally has a low INT score making rather easy for enemies to save against it. So the headband alone will make it much more effective, even if you dont multiclass her

It sucks that they made her subclass so weird. I like to leave the companions as they came, but her she needs to be switched out of Trickery. For some reason its so bad.

People just don't understand how cleric works; it's just sad to see that they claim that Shadowheart is almost useless, while in my game she just casts Hold Person on multiple targets, or cast Spirit Guardians, or else. And she wore a headband of intellect for me almost all the way through the game until Act 3! But I'm not your typical Tactician player, because I didn't change her Trickery Domain until the literally last portion of the game before the point of no return.

I just reclassed her as a paladin using Withers. Now she whacks things. Still gets Sharrian dialogue but now it's [Paladin of Shar]. Then [Paladin of Selune] after the bleach job.

THIS! Just have her learn AOEs and you'll never miss! It's better than having her miss everything else lol

I took a different route to fix her while keeping her secret gathering, trickery domain having flavor by making her basic damage come from hand crossbows instead of cantrips. I respecced her into taking her first level in rogue, set her stats to 10 STR 16 DEX 14 CON 10 INT 16 WIS and 8 CHA, and take expertise in sleight of hand and perception, then go five levels in trickery cleric, dip 2 more into rogue to pick up thief and bump her sneak attack dice before finishing in cleric. Between sneak attack and the extra poison damage on attacks from trickery domain, her basic damage remains relevant, she can serve as the lockpicking skill monkey and becomes really flexible in combat. It's also worth mentioning that in bg3 sneak attack can apply to spells too, so you can cast guiding bolt for instance, add your sneak attack damage to it, bonus action shoot with your offhand crossbow to finish off that 4 hp enemy, then bonus action hide. Or you can shoot with your main hand, cast healing word/sanctuary/spiritual weapon, then dash behind cover.
  • All I did was switch her to a War Cleric, and she does infinitely better.

She can't even land her cleric spells. I only used her when the story needed her.

Shadowbae went through Imperial Stormtrooper training, I swear.

Shadowshart the type of character to miss magic missile.

Half Elf have the Civil Militia feat already, allowing them to use light armor and shield. If you spec her into full wizard and pick up the Moderately Armored feat …. You’re basically a cleric with full wizard levels … which means you won’t have to lose out on one level … which is actually ALOT since a single spell slot level upgrade could be the difference between being able to use Fireball or Icestorm or not.

i hate people who talk about shadowheart as if theres something wrong with her because shes naturally a support class. Shes honestly out of all the natural classes for each origin character shadowheart is 2nd strongest behind minthara who is a paladin, and dark urge if u count it being naturally a sourcerer. Clerics and bards are just s tier support. Dont try and "fix" a cleric to be something its not, play a war cleric or play a paladin. Unless its for rp purposes imo if your trying to turn a cleric into a dmg dealer you misunderstand the purpose of clerics and bards. All the characters from strongest to weakest imo in terms viability support and offensive, no hate and i love rogues but sorry admittedly they arent very meta. Minthara (highest dmg but worst support than clerics) Dark urge (if you count it naturally being a sourcerer) Cleric (the only true support origin character and starts as argueably the best support subclass in general) Wyll (more dmg than gale, less flexibility) Gale (more flexibility than wyll less dmg) the ranger (avoiding spoilers but considering they fixed beastmaster in bg3 rangers are a really good option atm) Laezel (better dmg martial class) Karlach (tankier martial class) The two druids (avoiding spoilers but they are the same subclass Astarion (sorry, if Astarion literally didnt start off as the worst of the rogue subclasses i could rank him higher. Hell i respecced my astarion to assassin and assassin astarion would be right below gale imo) no bard companions but bards are equal to clerics imo. monks used to be OP af but considering at this point ive seen every class in bg3 do insane dmg and be broken not just monk id put them between ranger and gale.
  • @oppikomusic
yeaah her overall low damage output can hurt the party
  • @Systalis
The bass on your microphone is tuned WAY too high. You're vibrating my eardrums while simultaneously really difficult to understand.
  • @kloklon
dont the wizard spells use the INT modifier instead of WIS?
  • @jamescody9982
So she'll be a crappy version of a wizard who still misses her cantrips? Stay in your lane Shadowheart... I only need you for radiant AOE and a little necromancy
