Understanding the Gut Microbiome and Autism | Why we do testing?

Published 2024-04-11
In the last video we discussed what the gut microbiome was and also why it is so important. This video we are going to talk more about the gut microbiome, but the focus this video will be on how we do our testing for the gut.

Understanding how the gut can affect so many other parts of the body, most importantly the brain, is critical to having optimal health. And one of the best ways to understand where you stand with your gut microbiome is to do proper testing.

Dr. Miriam explains the type of test that we use here at Innate Healthcare Institute, and briefly goes over the markers that the test produces. Understanding what's going on in the gut is crucial to understanding what adjustments can be made.

In children with autism, a gluten free diet has always been a popular option in reducing symptoms. Dr. Miriam explains why gluten free has become such a common choice, how gluten affects the gut, and also discusses what limitations a gluten free diet carries.

In the second video of the series Understanding the Gut Microbiome, testing is the main focus. Appreciating how much information proper gut testing can provide, and explaining why Dr. Miriam recommends that every family here at Innate should get one.
