  • Having the blink module really is the game changer can get a decent set up without subscription
  • @EASYUSA
I don't see the advantage to paying so much more for Ring... I have all Blink 2 door bells and over 12 blink cameras, super recommended.
  • @chrisao1987
Yeah, but with blink you save $120 a year. Iā€™ve had ring for years and the amount of money Iā€™ve paid in subscriptions is mind blowing. In todayā€™s economy cutting back is essential. I installed a blink system at my parents a few years back and for its use itā€™s all most of us need if your just trying to monitor your home while your away. It works great and Iā€™m sure since Ive installed theirs the cams have gotten better and improved. Itā€™s all preference I guess. I can do without all the bells and whistles. Some people think they have to have it and thatā€™s cool again itā€™s all preference. For me I donā€™t leave my camera on 24/7 because I have kids and dogs and the ring notifies me every minute so itā€™s all disarmed when Iā€™m home and when I leave I cut it on. Blink does this very well so thatā€™s why Iā€™m ditching ring and saving $120 a year. Put that money in the vacation pot.
  • We have 3 blink minis, a blink doorbell, and a 6 blink wireless outdoors. I love how easy they were to install, but I hate how bad the battery life is. I also feel like even with the sensitivity high, the camera still missed events (people pulling to the driveway and whatnot). Iā€™ve been thinking about replacing all of our blink cameras with Ring cameras but donā€™t know if itā€™s worth the switch.

Thank you for this video! I have two blink mini's, a Ring video doorbell, and many video alexa devices. We are FINALLY getting rid of our overpriced security system that we got bamboozled into, buying out our contract, and getting a lower monthly cost system. I already pay for the Ring basic plan and its still saving us a lot switching to the Plus plan (going from $67/month for a system that barely works, to a $10/month plan for something I've had success with for at least our doorbell). I was trying to figure out if paying the lower cost for the blink cams was worth it, this helped me decide to stay with Ring, I do like the app better than the Blink app for sure.
  • Great video! As one having the Ring security system for me it only made sense to go with Ring cameras as it's just less hassle then juggling (2) apps to see what's happening. Now I do know people that have and use the Blink outdoor battery cameras and they love them for ability to put ANYWHERE due the battery power and last for about a year before having to "swap" batteries and having the Blink "bridge" is an absolute must for multiple cameras. Most people I know gripe about the "cloud" costs with Blink. As far as doorbell cams there are a TON of them out there and some are better than others and that depends on features and what works for YOU. As far as indoor "powered" cams I've been experimenting with the SwitchBot indoor cam. It only stores video on an SD card and allows you to view live anytime or playback events off your SD card currently for free! However SwitchBot products also require a $49 HUB to be able to view while not at home (not on your local WiFi). This indoor Cam is about the same size as the Blink Mini and is about the same price and like mentioned - NO cloud costs. This is the only reason I mention this brand and may be worth checking out for some viewers as my girlfriend does not like the features or LACK there of of trying to use the Blink Mini without paying. Remote playback off the SD card is also a smooth experience with the SwitchBot cam. Wyze is another great choice and all it requires is an SD card to watch events if you go for the free mode. You still get motion alerts but trying to view the SD card footage on local/cellular/remotely can be rather cumbersome at times! As Safewise mentioned there are MANY options out there and I'm always "experimenting" with different brands myself! Are Ring and Blink the best? I would say NO but they do get the job done and I'm happy with that and 1080P is "enough" for me to see what's happening while NOT at home. Do you own homework and determine what's best for YOU!
  • @rflegal12
Great vid. I like Blink b/c I already invested in it, plus donā€™t have to worry about wires!!
  • @TheZarpia
i only have one question. for blink, if i get the subscription do i still need the module? or are those features available with the subscription??
  • @wolfherzen5423
I have both I have ring and blink. I actually prefer blink. And the sync module. Along with the $10 a month. The reason if your WiFi goes out and the power is still on everything would be stored on the USB drive. You donā€™t get that with ring.
  • I have the blink doorbell and outdoor cameras, along with the subscription. I'm not impressed with the doorbells recording time of only 10 seconds and 10 second retrigger time between recordings. A lot can happen in 10 seconds and the cameras will for sure miss it! I'm looking into getting ring instead but I'm not sure if they have that same problem...
  • I bought blink cameras because I needed something battery powered, and am not able to run cables to the locations. I also needed it ASAP and didn't have time to research. It'll work for now, but I hate how it misses things motion, even on high, and doesn't continuously record, so if it misses something, I can't just wade through the footage. Also, like this video said, the app is very basic. Does Ring have battery powered cameras that continuously record? I don't care if I have to change/charge the batteries more often, as I don't have that many cameras.
  • I know it says the batteryā€™s can last up to 2 years but How often do you have to charge the batteryā€™s on the outdoor cameras
  • @moegreenbl
    1536P it's actually more than 2K it's a tad bit more than 2.7 k. 2.7 k is 1520p
  • @MoDavI-sl7iy
The ring camera was on sale at Amazon last week. I'm so upset with myself for not getting it. šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø
  • Got multiple blink camera package and it sucks ā€¦. Iā€™m going to a wired ring set up ā€¦ changing batteries in less than a month just for good qualityā€¦ no one talks about this šŸ¤¬šŸ¤¬
  • @wongjefx980
Tested Ring, Blink and Arlo; and some Honeywell stuff. No Nest or eufy though. TBH I think only Blink doesn't use propietary batteries. The Ring app and the doorbell ability to configure monitoring zone in the field of view is good. Costs more, but old school wired system with cameras, door\window contacts and motion sensors running on wire power with battery backup and ability to monitor over the web via app or browser, with option for monitoring service is the best. Blink is not expensive, but has no door\window contacts or motion sensor like Ring system.
  • @marklola12
The blink doorbell is crap i returned mine this morning, the batteries lasted not a full day lol
  • @pinkiebittle6415
Blink camera has live view & two way audio but you need the module which comes with the cameras!!!! Also you donā€™t have to purchase a subscription to view your videos. All you have to do is buy a usb storage device device to view your videos
  • @MrSamurai47
Good video but the fact that you didnā€™t say prices really ruined it. Only ā€œcheaper, more expensive, good dealsā€ say the prices
