What if Pokemon didn't have Rock and Ground type, but just an Earth type?

If this could be a series, definitely would be interesting to combine psychic and fairy into a magic type

Also: Diamonds are considered the hardest mineral, not for their durability, but for how difficult it is to scratch them. That's what Hardness means in terms of mineral stats.

The whole thing about Geovanni being a Normal type Gym Leader, and having a Tauros, Tauros was absolutely terrifying in Gen 1 due to Critical hit chances being affected by speed if I'm not mistaken.

"Broken in a way I'm used to" is a sentiment I feel in my soul. I GM a lot of TRPGs, and so often I have to restrain myself from homebrewing too much, because even though I think it will improve the game, it always adds an extra layer of people having to relearn the rules. I happen to be prepping a Pokémon campaign at the moment, and I've resolved to not touch the type chart at all because anyone who happens to have memorized the chart will only be confused and hurt by any change to it. (and let's face it, the type of person willing to play a Pokémon TRPG is fairly likely to have memorized the type chart)

Fun idea for you, Mikey--rank how difficult the first gyms in each region would be if you didn't have a starter. How well do the first few routes in each game prepare you to face your first challenge, and which are the hardest or easiest to beat?

See, I’m a fan of both Michael and Wolfe, for different reasons, and obviously because they’re vastly different content creators, and tend to focus on different aspects of the franchise and fandom. So to see them collaborate is literally something I never dreamt of, but it’s now become something I wished I dreamt of. Seriously hoping that we get to see more of these collaborations, because honestly, I feel like collab videos like these are easily the best representation of the fandom as a whole.
  • I think the reason bugs were resistant to ground was because bugs constantly dig into the ground to make nests and lay their eggs. Not to mention the fact that they also can dig underground to hibernarte.

9:23 From the moment I learned about Freeze-Dry being a move, I've been of the belief that Cut should've been turned into a Steel type move that's super effective against Grass.
  • @JohnnyScribe
I think splitting the flying type would be interesting, but probably a lot harder, because you obviously couldn’t give both the same weaknesses and resistances
  • Related to the ground type: I've always thought that some ground-type moves should have a special property that allows them to hit flying types. I understand why earthquake, high horsepower or earth power don't hit flying types, but move like mud shot, bonemerang or scorching sands should definitely be able to hit them. Also, remove the levitate ability and convert it to an atribute for all Pokémon that float or fly that prevents them from taking damage from "land-based moves"

I LOVE that you mention that grass type should just be just the plant type, because actually in Spain's Spanish it is categorised as such in the type chart, which always made more sense to me than calling it: "tipo hierba" (grass type in Spanish)
  • I personally think it will be cooler if both Giovanni and Brock were earth type leaders, it would both invoke the feeling of coming full circle and it would also show you how far you came since defeating Brock
  • @blazedj
Just like when the Fairy type was introduced, it seems that adding, subtracting, or even combining types to the chart can bring about some drastic changes- some new and exciting, but some troublesome as well. Despite this, the idea of shaking up the charts a little more is still one of the biggest game changers Pokémon still has up its sleeves.

Now i really need a "what if Water and Ice were a single type" as well. You're really clever and thoughtful about making these!
  • @jedi_cat_l4976
“Obligatory go Team Sky” made me laugh much harder than it should have
  • @demi-femme4821
Stealth Rock would change DRASTICALLY and that would have huge implications for Singles. Flying-types and Pokémon with Levitate would be able to ignore all hazards, which would be insane both for offensive Flying-types and Levitate users and defensive ones.
  • @CC_Reisz
Another big side effect of this that Wolfey didn’t mention: Gyarados and Zapdos now only have one weakness each. Water/Flying types basically become the second Water/Ground type.
