Walt Disney World dinner at Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House

Jiko is considered a Disney Signature Dining restaurant, which means it’s on the higher end of dining experiences at Disney World and requires two table service entitlements if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan. There is a dress code request for this restaurant but it is not strictly enforced. The menu at Jiko is inspired by African cuisine, with touches of Indian and Mediterranean influences, crafted by expert chefs. The offerings at Jiko change seasonally, ensuring that guests always have something new and exciting to try that reflects the flavors of the season. This includes the offerings inside the injera basket. The name “Jiko” means “cooking place” in Swahili, which is fitting for a restaurant that offers a show kitchen with wood-burning ovens. The dining room’s color palette is designed to evoke the ambiance of an African sunset, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere and it definitely does that. Perfect place for a date night. Jiko – The Cooking Place a must-visit destination for food lovers and Disney guests alike.

That's so cool that you got Boma signatures too. The book is a magical artifact now. I'm so glad Jiko exists, food should be adventurous, and Jiko really brings a completely different sort of eating experience that's harder to find. People deserve to try food that's outside their comfort zones.

23:04 We haven’t tried Jiko or any AKL restaurants because we generally don’t stay at resorts nearby and we don’t drive. Our next trip, we’re planning on taking an afternoon off of the parks to hit up AKL for lunch. We’re leaning toward Sanaa. Jiku looks fun, but based on the review, the meat dishes were more compelling and we’re vegetarians

Wow so many more choices for vegans! Nice to know about the 2 modifications. It never hurts to ask 🌱
  • Yay!! So excited that you posted this. So now debating between Jiko & Sanaa 🤔
  • @katrinlausch3078
Wow this is what I call an amazing course-dinner for non-vegans + vegans alike. Sadly Disney does not have lots of these places. 🍀💖💖

While Jambo House is my favorite resort, I have never eaten at Jiko. It seems a little too fancy and expensive for my taste. The fish dish may be too extreme for me and the tofu dish did not seem that wonderful. I love Boma and Sanaa and ever enjoy the Mara. Someday I will try it.
