I would love to see a part two focusing on the DLC, that would be neat.

05:30 The player character looking disappointed in himself in the default ending actually kinda fits with the Aldia lore: DS2's ending does not show you whether you chose to link the fire again or usher in an age of dark, it just means that the cycle of fire and dark continues. Aldia tried to break the cycle, and the alternate ending implies that you follow in his path.

The area zoom outs are one of the best parts of the show, please continue doing them!

The Lord Vessel is actually right there, it always was in game. Just shattered. You can see it at around 4:00.

I like how you usually do zoomouts as pace-breaking gaps between sections, but when theres a specific reason to set them aside like here, a seperate section can do well. I liked this one.

5:40 I know someone has shown off the defeated pose your character sits in, but I've never been able to find it again, so I'm glad you showed it off

I love DS2, it's my favourite of the 3. Thank you for making this with so much love and care. Also the zoom outs are amazing, please keep doing them!

Those cut areas are really neat. Really makes it feel like the world is bigger than what you see. That blocked-off tunnel with perfectly intact exit hole in particular makes it feel like a real world with a full history, and not just the plot or lore relevant bits. Like there really was just a tunnel there, and the entrance really did just collapse, and that's all there is to it. Even if it was just a scrapped idea that the devs just didn't bother erasing entirely, it still feels organic.

6:39 IIRC that's the shield of that boss that can summon red phantoms during their fight.
  • With how many changes that get made in NG+ in DS2 that sadly the other games in the series never tried again, I was wondering how Freja just pops up from under the cliffside before properly fighting her or the 2 red phantoms that jailbreak during the lost sinner's fight if they are always there even before entering the arena

Dark Souls II was my favorite, before Elden Ring, so I'm happy to see a Boundary Break episode on it. Even though it's the black sheep of the series, you can tell a decent amount of care was put into it and the models and stuff.
  • Small correction: Those mirrors are actually located in Aldia’s Keep, and not Drangleic Castle, although there are mirrors in the castle that do not spawn enemies

omg finally DS2 boundary break, I've been wanting this forever. thank you
  • @roundninja
The whole video I was hoping there was gonna be a zoom out section. I love getting to see parts of the level architecture that you normally can't, like at Heide's Tower
  • @maxevocal
I love the map zoom-outs, it makes me really feel like im in a developer's point of view
  • @glitchard3685
I love this channel. I also really enjoy the zoomouts and I hope you continue to do them. I'm such a fan of learning how games are made, and these videos satisfy that perfectly. Thank you for making all of these.
  • Long-time viewer here, gotta say that the zoomouts are my favorite part of this series. Thanks for getting arouns to one of my favorite games!
  • @Zenlore6499
Oh wow, those zoom outs are great! Really cool stuff!
  • Can you look at the building in Brightstone Cove Tseldora that can't be reached, and also the upper ground in the Forest of Fallen Giant's Soldier's Rest area that looks like the blocked off cave tunnel would have led to it? It's right next to the building with 3 Turtle Knights on the roof. That place is driving me crazy, I feel like I could bait one of the Turtle Knights into smacking me up onto the ridge but it's just too difficult to bait out that attack Edit: Oh wow you actually covered it in this video! Nice job, I didn't expect that! Rock on!
