Come to think of it, this episode is kind of like a weird mirror of Spongebob's normal status quo: -Mr. Krabs is acting on principle even against his financial gain. -Squidward is driving Spongebob crazy. -Spongebob gets angry.

Y'know, this was one of the few episodes where Spongebob's amiable and overall helpful nature was really tested. Even at similar points where Spongebob got really pushed, like when Sandy put him through a virtual gauntlet of extreme sports before she was forced to hibernate, Spongebob never really exploded like he did here.

Spongebob flipping out fits so much better in the episode than how it actually plays out. He literally chokes his boss and then finds out Mr. Krabs had the missing dime all along. How did he not explode even further?

Ah, a far better time for Spongebob Where he was still naive and chipper, but had limits to how much of one thing he could handle. He could cry, he could get angry, he could scream. Nowadays, he's nothing more than a bottomless cup. He can take anything and everything, and still be as chipper as the day he was born.
