How Shadow Saved Sonic X (Season 2 Retrospective)

Gamma and Omega are two separate entities, so they're collectively the E-Series robots with Gamma being the third in line. Zero aka E-100 Alpha is the first and why Eggman refers to Beta as Gamma's older brother. Omega is E-123, so he's a separate robot from gamma. In Sonic heroes, Omega even references how he "couldn't even beat beta." Omega, Rouge, and Shadow make up team dark, so they didn't exist yet because that started in Sonic Heroes. Shadow does the same "you're my master" thing in the games too, though Eggman isn't aware that the cannon is going to destroy earth entirely when he just wants to use it to get everyone to surrender and rule the earth himself, so Shadow basically goes along with it with the intention of using him to destroy the world. SA2's plot is wild from Tails point of view since he shoots up a government facility and breaks an enemy of the state out of prison like it's just Tuesday. Then he and Sonic doxxes the president. Then he just casually builds a literal space shuttle and builds a fake chaos emerald designed to destroy the eclipse cannon. In the games, the Japanese dialogue implies that Sonic intentionally let himself get taken in by the police as a means to get more information about Shadow and get closer to the government facility which already raises other questions. In the Japanese version, it's made pretty clear that the GUN Soldiers not only killed Maria, but the scene with Gerald Robotnik actually has sound effects for the firing squad that shoots him at the end of his video. So it wasn't just Gerald giving his final words but was his execution video. The games do confirm that Sonic does chaos control and specifically learned it from Shadow, . Sonic even teasing Shadow about how "you saved me you know." It did matter for Sonic to escape because he got blown up and would have died from the explosion.
