As a military ship would shock into the system maintaining a distance form the Ishimura as they picked up the escape pod, things would go from relatively normal to even more alarming considering what would unfold. As the pod was opened, it became clear what was inside, even the military couldnt handle. The ship would be overwhelmed rapidly as fighting would ensue but no soldiers would survive. Instead, given their advanced armoring and built in stasis modules, they would become impossible fast, were already larger given their status a soldier, and had many mutations to boot. So in todays episode, lets discuss the lore and morphology of the twitcher!

I love this feature of Roanoke that instead of searching and using the models of the Necromorphs (or other monsters) he goes to the game and gets a "fresh" samole of it. "Fresh flesh from our hunting trip. Here, look at their feet."

"Trapped like a rat in a chia pet" gosh damn he's coming up with new horrors

Also as a marine I’d say the reason they weren’t armed is because you have to access the armory and sign your weapon out you can’t just walk around with it in your day to day life unless you’re on duty. I’d assume that process that’s existed since serial numbers came to play with weapons I’d assume it’s a system used even 500 years into space

one of the things I remember about the USS Valor is that it's crew actually had a mutiny so they already had, I think about 7 corpses, in it's medbay. I think they had some unitologists that really didn't like the idea of the ship they were serving on obliterating their holy artifact in nuclear hellfire, so my guess is that with Chen still being a Necromorph and not a pile of sludge (what necromorphs turn into in the absence of a Marker signal), the pod was picked up in the range of the Marker signal and with the signal doing what it do, reanimated the dead in their infirmary/morgue. meaning it was most likely Chen and a few Twitchers just decimating the ship

I like the part when the twitcher goes, “it’s twitchin time”, and sliced Isaac.

If my memory serves me right, it was actually SCAF that built the Red Marker of Aegis VII. SCAF was the government before EarthGov, and was fighting a civil war. After Necromorph outbreaks destroyed the research outposts on Aegis VII and Tau Volantis, SCAF activated a protocol where all records of the markers and all personnel who knew about them were destroyed to prevent extinction. We actually see this protocol in action in the intro of DS3. This worked, but with all of their leadership dead, SCAF quickly lost the civil war and EarthGov rose from the ashes. Hence why EarthGov doesn’t really care about creating new Red Markers, as we see in DS2 and DS3. They didn’t have the firsthand experience because they weren’t the government that dealt with them before.

The way I see it is that on the Valor, heavier weaponry such as pulse rifles, seeker rifles, etc were locked up in the armory or personal lockers. So the crew that investigated the escape pod were only armed with sidearms/were combat medics so they weren’t ready for a hash slinging slasher to ambush them.

i'd love to see you do a video on the Mimics from Edge of Tomorrow. Your take on their alien biology would be fascinating.
  • They took in the escape pod likely for the same reason earthgov took custody of the crew in dead space aftermath, for interrogation to learn things, but weren't expecting a necromorph.

I know nothing about Dead Space but the Roanoke rants and sick voice cracks are keeping me going like that one anglerfish that missed his leg and keeps him out of the water to this day

"Starting with the feet" glad to see you back to a good old analysis. The movie ones are good but it's cool when you can get such a better look at the whole creature.

When i first saw this game i didn't think the stasis would ever be used against Isaac since he's the only human around who can use tools commonly. But then the soldiers appeared and i was like "wait, will they use stasis on us?" And boy seeing a slasher being that fast made me laugh with excitement, it was just such a cool idea and design. But then i realized what that meant and fear was now the main feeling
