We don't have Kurt's opinions on these kinds of shows really, but we do have Dave Grohl's. Dave Grohl said that waiting in a room for 8 hours, singing your heart out for two minutes and having someone tell you it's not good enough is ridiculous. He said if you love music, do music as much as you can, and forever and ever.

The "yeah" part sounds a bit like James Hetfield of Metallica. "Yeahhhh"

He's actually really good. Singing like Kurt is hard as fuck. Props to him.

I respect that he tried to get his message out through a modern medium, but Simons right. Kurt would've despised this show. And I'm sure the survivors of grunge (Eddie, Dave, Chris) all hate these shows as well. It's a sell out to pop culture, really.

this show is only for Justin beabers wannabes not for real music like Nirvana
  • That bizarre moment when you realize that Simon Cowell actually gets punk-rock

This title sucks and is misleading. He never hated the song, he hated the singer.

I agree with points both Simon and the long-haired contestant said. Simon was right in saying that Kurt would've hated reality talent shows let alone have one of his songs performed on one and also how rock fans would see a 'rock performer' performing on such a show, as selling out. However, the long-haired contestant did make a good point by saying that these reality talent shows have made the industry hard to access for new artists. Particularly rock artists, as it is more difficult to find another, less manufactured and conforming way into the industry because talent shows have taken over that and the charts. Also the white haired guy who said "If that's true, how did we get Kurt Cobain?" can fuck off because the music industry didn't have all the reality talent shows (or not as many as nowadays atleast) in the 90s to get in the way of Nirvana and their awesomeness. The long-haired contestant was right in saying that this music industry was laughing at Kurt, they didn't think Nirvana's genre of music would ever get popular. But now we can laugh at them for being so ignorant. I think the long-haired contestant justified his actions for coming on the show very well even if I do personally think rock shouldn't be on a reality show in general.

"Being someone you're not is a waste of the person you are." ~Kurt Cobain

Is this show about musical talent or analyzing someone's character? There's absolutely no reason to compare him with Cobain, he tried to show his talent, not to imitate Cobain's personality. I didn't see him do that with Brian Crum when he covered Radiohead, and Radiohead are not exactly conformists either. He just gave his personal opinion on the guy's character and his unlucky choice of music. Totally unprofessional.
  • The guy sounded amazing and made really good points, the show just puts in who they want to win.
  • @johnb2263
Simon is absolutely right on this... but the dude is right when he said' "you guys made it this way, young artists can't get a contract anymore".
  • @carloschaves2437
what is the guy even arguing, grunge was the polar opposite of pop culture
  • @PillNye
Simon knows the rebellious feel of grunge, he's right.

Honestly I think it’s just hard for anyone to cover anything Nirvana. Kurt’s voice was unique and he just had a way of making his music his own.
  • Oh boy, I think this is the part where I share my unpopular opinion! I agree with the singer here. The point of performing rock music is to do whatever you want, and to hell with anyone who tells you what to do or how to do it. Nirvana might not have wanted to play this show, but I think Kurt would have stood right beside this guy and argued with Simon.
  • Simon has a point though. Kurt Cobain would've hated a show like this. The whole point of Nirvana was a big fuck you to the industry and turning it on its head. They were an independent group that came out of nothing and would never have resorted to going on a talent show like this poser.

That yeeeeaaah would have made James from Metallica proud.
