After trying a lot of guitars at music stores, you come to know very quickly if one is dead, just okay, or full of life. This Eastman E20P sits stoutly at the top of the "full of life" pile, with a big voice that belies its small frame. A shining example of Eastman's take on traditional guitar designs, the E20P has a red "Adirondack" spruce top that sings out with volume and overtone content. In Lucas's opinion this guitar is jaw droppingly wonderful, and handmade to high specifications, selling at a price that makes it a steal.

Eastman E20P features:
A Red "Adirondack" spruce top with hand scalloped x bracing, a traditional tortoise style teardrop pick guard, East Indian rosewood back and sides bound with Herringbone, an ebony bridge with ebony bridge pins, bone saddle and 2-3/8" string Spacing, a Mahogany neck with Eastman's traditional even C profile, an Ebony Fingerboard with a 12" inch radius and snowflake inlays, a 1 13/16" Bone nut, 20 Jescar-FW43080 Fretwire, a 24.9" inch Scale Length, Dual Acting truss rod, ebony headstalk veneer, Perl logo, and open gear Ping tuning machines.

Body Dimensions are 13-3/4" X 4-1/18", and the guitar has a gloss nitro finish. The guitar also ships with a nice hard shell case.

Selling for less than $2000 Canadian at the time of this review, if you like what you hear, give Brett a call at Sounds Good Music, as they ship worldwide and are great to deal with!:

What are your thoughts on parlour guitars? Do you have a small bodied instrument like this in your arsenal, or would you consider a guitar like the E20P if you don't?

I've been researching this guitar these last few days (just purchased it yesterday) and i have to say this video gives THE best demonstration of what it can do and how it can sound. If i hadnt already bought it yesterday, this video would have sealed the deal for me. Amazing playing, loved it!!

Really like this series and enjoy your playing.

Just bought one 2 days ago. I was blown away. Went to buy a Martin or Iris. The E20P outperformed a $6000 Santa Cruz and every Martin in the store except the D45 & a 50 yr old D28.

Great Demo - thanks Lucas, I have an Eastman OM and love it, such good value.
  • Definitely has volume. I thought at first it was the way you “attacked it”. The resonance is pure and shows up in the second part of your demonstration. Love the melodies as well. Great Tuesday again.

Hello Lucas, I would say that this guitar fits to your playing style very well, and you truly make it "bark"!
  • Loved the sound of the guitar. I'd consider picking that up myself. There's definitely a parlor in my future.
  • You are amazing players!!!! .. cute as a button and you got that Joe Bonamassa shine!

enjoyed your Blind Blake take. Just curious if you have listen to Blind Owl Al Wilson of Canned Heat. I think you would get alot out of it if you do, considering your style. Thanx I'm getting one of these parlours

Size is an illusion - big sound! This is a serious instrument. Always thought parlour guitars were a notch above ukele's and mandolins and strictly for campfires (to play at - not kindling), but that's also a myth. This seems like a serious instrument, convenient enough to write songs with on the road or at home, and for special intimate settings or stage numbers. Hmmmmm - I'll add one to my dream list!

A lesson on your right hand strumming is just as important as your left hand chords. 👏🏻
  • What a coincidence. 10 hours ago I wrote you a long message in reply to one of your answers to me. In my message I wrote that I have an E20P.

About 30 seconds in you opened the sinuses on that thing and started breathing. It’ll never sound the same again. Whoever ends up with is lucky you operated on it. 😉
