Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign has raised approximately $49.6 million in donations since President Joe Biden announced he would exit the race and offered an endorsement of his vice president, the Harris campaign said Monday.

Biden’s decision came after dozens of lawmakers and allies urged him to step aside for the sake of the Democratic party.

The president released a statement Sunday afternoon on X, where he revealed he would not seek reelection, but added that he would address the nation later in the week about his decision.

The announcement came just weeks before the Democratic National Convention, which is set to begin Aug. 19 in Chicago.

While Harris is not guaranteed the nomination, reports have started to circulate, regarding who would be her running mate.

Harris has reportedly spoken with Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, but the specifics of the call have not been revealed.

Dr. Mark Shanahan, an American politics expert joined LiveNOW from FOX's Josh Breslow to discuss the announcement by Biden and the next steps.
