Why you can’t get a job right now (it’s not just you)

Getting a job right now is pretty difficult despite what's shown by the market. Between needing 5+ years of experience for an entry level role, the perfect corporate social media profile on LinkedIn, and applicant tracking systems, it's important to remember that you aren't alone in the chaos. Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

For the past couple of weeks I've been getting responses saying "We're going in another direction" from jobs I applied to SIX MONTHS AGO.

i quit the crappy job i had with my dad, & he still complains about it. i sat down & did the grind. 1500 applictions later i had 3 interview requests that landed me nowhere. welcome to the new world

It’s all about your circle now, and when you know no one, well you’re fucked 🙃

I've been rejcted by target, starbucks, chick fi a, and a plethora of other jobs that are suppose to be "easy to get" that "anyone can do." If I do get an interview i usually get rejected a few weeks later. I don't get it, its not like I'm applying to be a brain surgeon.

I literally just automate job applications. Hit apply for 50 go to gym and come back and work on side business. If they won't give me time to see my skills and experience why should I put effort into a lengthy application. UPDATE: I actually got a job through this process.

My office closed down in January and since then I’ve applied to well over 200 jobs. It’s physically and mentally exhausting getting up every single day and sitting in front of my laptop from sun up to sun down. No wonder depression is an all time high.

Also about fake job offers: they’re also a good way for companies to collect huge amounts of data for their own benefit

24 years old and can't find a job it's ruined my self esteem. I have a degree in business and I had a 3.95 GPA

I’ve pretty much given up on finding a job so I’m gig working full time and looking to sleep in my car until I can scrounge up money to pay off my court ticket so I can join the military. This is coming from someone with almost of decade of retail experience and no criminal record

I’ve applied to HUNDREDS, most don’t even require a degree of any kind. I have a Bachelor’s degree in finance. I cannot get anything. It is sad
  • @magentahoward
Also when jobs ask applicants to make sample work specifically tailored for them they should pay for your time during that process.
  • Ridiculous how I have a bachelor's yet I've gotten 0 interviews after months of applying for entry-level desk jobs

The company: You need to get more experience. Us: But how can I get more experience if I don’t have a job?! The company: SHUT UP, GET OUT. During Covid the power shifted to the employees but it’s shifted back to the employers with a vengeance

Since December 2022 and to this day, i have applied to a total of 17,823 jobs, all of which got rejected. Mind you i have a Medical Degree and a Masters degree...... Upper jobs reject me for no reason, while the below jobs reject me because i am over qualified. 🙂

I did an application where they wanted a 5 min video response to why do you want to work for us. I saw it half way into the application, so I left some snarky responses. Sure enough, I got a response to my application in a few days saying I wasn't a good fit for their company lmao

I got fired from my teaching job 6 months ago due to needing medical leave (lol) and I’ve been unemployed ever since. I’ve applied to over 100 jobs and I’ve only heard back from ONE job that ended up being a scam. I used to work at Starbucks for 2 years prior to being a teacher, so I applied to many locations as a backup plan. I got denied from ALL of them. This seriously fucked me up so bad mentally. I can’t even get a job at a place I used to work at?? Especially a job that doesn’t require a degree?? I’m seriously at such a loss. I have no connections since I finished my undergrad online due to the pandemic. I’m so lucky to be able to live with my parents during this time but I’m 25, engaged, and feeling the most un-adult I’ve ever felt in my life :(

    I’m at 200 apps. 0 interviews.
