"Entry level" jobs requiring 3-5 years experience is peak corporate nonsense

I am in gen z and I must say, the economy does not make it easy to build community in real life. Social media is a tool to escape and it further isolates us in real time.

“but i can’t be delusional anymore like i literally need to make money” she’s so real

as someone who quit social media, i don’t scroll at the bus stop, i’m really trying to “take in life:” i still feel lonely. the loneliness isn’t only because of social media, it’s in the culture

It’s hard to get a job in this generation. Jobs will desperately say "we’re hiring" but then turn around and say "Oh I’m sorry your not right for our position but thank you for being here 😊🙏🏼" like wtf? 😢😭

From what I’ve witnessed gen z is hard to work with because we’re less likely to put up with bs in the workplace that previous generations thought was normal.

I'm Gen Z. I've been working since the state said I was old enough to. I've burnt my hands and arms on searing hot grill tops and fryer oil. I've strained my back lifting sheetrock and I've stood for so long the soles of my shoes have taken the form of my foot. Each time I jump to a higher income, it's simply catching up on ground lost to inflation and higher living costs. We're climbing a ladder that only gets taller the faster we climb. Something has to give.

Also there are literally zero public spaces right now. Like I can't afford to go out, literally ever, and the few libraries and parks and nature that are left keep shrinking.

Im starting to blame the older generations. They are the ones setting the laws and standards and they are making it harder for us on purpose and it shows.

the quarter-life crisis is when all childhood aspirations get smacked by the wall of reality. It's rough
  • @TheRamblingSoul
There's something very wrong with society when quarter life crises become normalized when before you just had to worry about mid-life crises...
  • I distinctively remember this narrative of being "lazy & entitled" being about millennials less than 10 years ago. Remember when boomers were saying we couldn't afford houses because we spent every dime we got on avocado toast and Starbucks lattes? Is so dumb to shit on the young people for struggling on the LATE STAGES OF CAPITALISM!!

I’m a millennial, but I’m rooting for you guys. Trust me, if anyone gets it, it’s the millennials.

The girl walking around w the resume 😭 I so feel her pain. I did that and a business finally offered to hire me… for $7.25/hr… bare minimum wage

It’s not even just adulting that is the issue. I just cried for an hour because everytime my mom tells me to grow up and do something I do it and she doesn’t even take a second to congratulate me on what I’ve done instead she moves to the next thing to berate me for. She has literally drained any energy and excitement I had to accomplish anything in my life because it will never be good enough. And that right there is what makes life seem so less appealing to live. Not the fact that we don’t have money. The fact that whenever we do accomplish one of those goals we have that joy taken away because “oh well time to move onto the next thing”. When we move on from something to quickly we don’t get a chance to actually enjoy the accomplishments we make which in turn just leads us back to where we started.

The wildest shit I've ever read was a post by a software engineer or something saying how he applied to a job and was rejected because he didnt have 6 years experience using X programme. He was the one who created the programme and it was only 3 years old! He wrote them an email saying how tf he was supposed to have that much experience when it was only 3 years and he created it? They ignored him and didn't change anything 😭😭😭

As a 26 year old, being unemployed makes me feel embarrassed with myself, like I should have a clearer life path by now. But that's not the case at all.

Im Gen Z. A garbage man and I cant stand doing the same thing every single day of my life. I feel like im just repeating and wasting my life away. It's shitty man... Literally and figuretively.

as someone who is gen z, there is simply no hope for most of us to even have our own APARTMENT. let alone a house. retirement is a feverdream. Jobs dont pay enough and everything is way too expensive and were being thrown out into the world and are expected to be like "welp, just the way the world works ig" like NO. The odds are STACKED against us. SO... Why work? Why try? there is NO payoff anymore. Thats why we always distract ourselves with our phones. "Taking in life" only makes you feel at peace when your circumstances are GOOD. we have to cope somehow.
