DeSantis signs bill to limit HOA fines, increase transparency

Published 2024-06-04
The bill states that HOAs can’t fine residents for leaving out a trash can within 24 hours before or after the collection day or time, or for leaving holiday decorations up for longer than indicated in governing documents unless the decorations are left up more than one week after a written notice is issued.

You would have to be an absolute fool to buy a house where there is an HOA I'll be damned if people are going to tell me what I can do with my house my property that I work for that I pay for ...HOAs need to be abolished!!

If you bought a home with an HOA you don't own your home don't be fooled.

Buying a home associated with an HOA iis like renting - they can insist you do all sorts of things, fine you, jack up the rates, etc.

HOA should be against state law

Another reason I live in the boonies on acres of land.
  • Even if you bought a lot of these condos in cash, you can't afford to live there. The monthly HOA fees seem insane compared to the actual valuation of the properties

the people that pay their hoa fines in all pennies are my heros. Hard to find a place in FL without a hoa.

I leave my trash bin out until the next day sometimes. I feel ashamed when it happens I don’t need a fine too 😅

2500-dollar HOA for a 100k condo in Miami. He needs to do something about that. Members of HOAs are using the monthly payments to get rich not to fix the property.

My Sarasota HOA is saying these rules do not apply to them and they are grandfathered into the old rules. They are very inconsistent in enforcing rules, have no plan or procedures to enforce the rules, and seem to selectively enforce the rules. let me know if you want more information
