Lineker for me is this typical english sportsman, respecting the game and the better team. Thats why i love watching football with english commentators! from munich, bavaria

Lineker is a great presenter on everything he does. Very professional. As for Germany, they’ve been in 8 WC Finals and 6 European Championship Finals that’s not counting semi-final defeats. Astonishing record. My country England, just one World Cup Final and TV keep showing it. Can you imagine if we had won the World Cup and Euro Championship as many times as Germany, it would never be off TV.

Brilliant commentator, always fair, always objective, always witty.
  • A very good summary of how Germany amazed everyone and how dumb founded we all were. Gary Linear showing his skill as a brilliant football presenter and pundit.

To be fair, it was hilarious seeing Brazil get humbled like this on their own soil. They weren't a good team and scraped their way through to the semis. The best team definitely won.

He is so much spot on, exactly capturing as well as analyzing what happened. Really admirable.

I remember I was 8 years old. My idol was matthäus, my demon Maradona. My favorites were Baresi, Maldini, Roger Milla, Gazzo and gary lineker. My favorite teams were Germany, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia. As grew up I learned rivalry is about respect rather than hate. Gary, I learned to know u better as a host and as years gone by, my respect has grew as much. - From an Iranian child who took refuge and now living as a proud Canadian today

I had very little sympathy for Brazil watching that match. Throughout the tournament they played a dirty, cynical style assisted by some notably favorable refereeing decisions. Beautiful Brazil died a long time ago.

I remember the 1990 final and I cannot believe it took 24 years of pain and agony until they won another one......something I will never forget and cherish for years to come!
  • @Clem_Fandango11
How about that was the greatest "pressing" side we have ever seen, and probably the best balanced midfields I have seen.

Incredulity, not many football guys do have such elaborate expressions activly to offer. He is a gentleman.

As I've said elsewhere, Brazil had lost this game before they kicked a ball, that night. Clutching Neymar's shirt and crying during the anthems, they were psychologically broken. Germany sensed that and they were brutal and clinical.
  • @anno4life
Neymar and Silva missing for one game? We didn't have Reus for the whole tournament!
  • @lannaldo
Always love listening to Gary’s opinions, he gets it spot on most of the time

Thank you Gary, you were right then, I often watch German football games with English commentators, more passion, fun, respect for both teams and competetence.

This victory, together with the final, although being 4 years in the past, will nourish me until the end of my life. We got thrown out in 2018 in a humiliating manner, but this victory was for eternity and the WC win made it supreme. I'm probably biased, but the 2014 WC was by far the greatest WC I've ever seen and I've seen them all since 1974.
