I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SINCE THE BEGGINNING OF 2011 WHEN I FIRST SAW IT ON TV!!!!! IT WAS DELETED FROM MY RECORDED LIST AND I LOST THE EPISODE COMPLETELY, BEEN LOOKING FOR AGES FOR IT, EVEN MESSAGED ADAM HART--DAVIS HIMSELF, WHO KINDLY RESPONDED BUT STATED THAT EVEN HE DIDNT HAVE A COPY OF THE THING. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS! <3 :D.
  • Some of my favourite pubs, the Red Lion, the Blackfriars and the best of all, the Mitre

What a fantastic video by a master presenter and highly intelligent man. This documentary was produced in 2006. He appeared in a number of documentaries about that time, all of which were very educational and highly enjoyable. I have not seen him on TV for many years. It seems the BBC has its own group of favoured luvvies these days. Endless documentaries about the royal family, past and present, and about whom I have no interest. Bring back AH-D. Why are so many people commenting on his shirt rather than the great story of London's pubs.... pathetic.

3:00 I wonder if the pegs in the mug was where the expression "pegged out" came from. We use the expression for someone who has died. I always thought it was from playing Cribbage when the first to finish has "pegged out." The hops part of the story is quite interesting too. Where I live ( Vancouver ), about 50 miles east of here is the Fraser Valley which is mostly farming. Years ago, most of what you would see in the fields was miles and mile of Chilliwack Goldings hops. I don't think anyone grows that here any more.
  • Thank you Rolf Harris. That was very informative. Hope you're behaving yourself mate.

Good video. The pub is the most important establishment in any British community. Take good care of it and cherish it.
