Restoring a Blast From The Past - Pushing G1 Blaster's Buttons - Vintage 80s Transformers

Published 2024-01-21
In this video, we tackle a common problem... G1 Blaster's broken buttons.
My brother bought one of these classic 80s Hasbro G1 Transformers and the buttons were frozen stuck.

Be ready for some cracking music and strobing lights!!

The Search For, Preservation and Archival of Vintage Toys.

Hi, I'm VTR Dave. A Brit on a mission to curate a high-quality and diverse collection of vintage toys, known as the VT aRchive.

A homage to the iconic toys of the 70s & 80s to be shared with as many enthusiasts as possible, right here on this channel. And who knows, perhaps in the future, on display in a public space like a museum. Now, wouldn't that be something!

Subscribe to stay updated as I search for vintage toys, lovingly restore them, delve into their history, and piece by piece, construct the VT aRchive.

As always, thanks goes out to everyone who supports the channel. Every view, like & comment is appreciated.

Stay safe & cheers!

During the pre-transformer days, Blaster was a microman figure referred to as MC-21 Radi0-Cassette Robo. Due to how the toy was configured as a working AM radio, the transformable micro-cassettes could not be stored in the tape door but were stored in the rear compartment. This compartment was carried over when the toy was released as Blaster.

Nice work as usual, Dave, repairing this Blaster Transformer Boombox. No easy task, but one small step at a time gets results. Thanks!

Great job Dave! Always a bonus when toys work as good as the look!

Brilliant job Dave. Those frozen buttons would certainly be a problem for kiddie fingers! Another one rescued from being consigned to the back of the display.

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ kids today will never know the joy of sitting down to eat a sandwich at the dinner table and just as your bum hits the seat, a VTR resto video drops! YES!!!! More sterling work Dave, Blaster definitely on my wants list for this year, another fantastic repair job my friend, and a VTR outtake thatโ€™s right up my street ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I heard that cursing all the way over here when that spring launched! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚ Seriously though, the meticulous manner in which you trouble shoot these toy repairs is addictive to watch. Great job!

Fantastic!!! I have this Transformer with the same issue โค As Leanne is watching and you pressed play on Soundwave and music started, she looked at me and asked "they actually play music?" I laughed, and she knew it was thru the magic of editing that music was being played ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ As always Dave, absolutely brilliant fix, and totally fascinating how you worked thru the issues ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜

I love that they included a rubsign even with the giant Autobot symbol on his chest. Gee, wonder what side he's on:)

Great video man! The cover and all the small details were for the original Micro Change Blaster. It was a real working radio! Sadly have not been able to score one!
