discuss the concept of blurring the lines between good and evil in the upcoming show 'Acolyte'. They explore the idea of relativism and the Rashomon effect, where the same story is viewed through multiple perspectives. They highlight the importance of a clear distinction between good and evil and the need for a moral standard. The conversation also touches on the role of institutions, the hero's journey narrative, and the impact of questioning the definitions of good and evil. The conversation explores the importance of a shared understanding of right and wrong, the failure of relativism in governance, and the objective external standard of right and wrong. It also delves into the tragedy of Luke Skywalker's character arc, the blurring of good and evil in Star Wars, and the need for conviction based on reality and experience. The appeal of characters with uncompromising moral certitude, the frustration with ham-handed subversion of good and evil, and the fascination with characters who push moral boundaries are also discussed. The conversation concludes with the fatigue of challenging traditional ideas of right and wrong and the lack of understanding of Star Wars in The Acolyte.

  • If good is approximated then would the same follow for bad? Why are you changing the dichotomy? If this series isn't using the Christian morality why judge it or view it from the standpoint are you not doing the same thing you accused others of? Minute 28, you get allll that from a trailer of a series you haven't seen? Also isn't rape, murder, and slavery considered bad today? So then why do all these things get a pass from the Christian God in the Bible? Come on guys.... LOTR clear good and bad Dune not that clear Both are great. You guys hamstring yourself so much in these conversations. Eeewww yall nasty
