Applying for Social Security Disability is tough. At the time when you are feeling bad enough to be considered disabled, the agency seems to want to make the process as difficult as possible. If you want to make their job easier, I can help you with that.
Hi, I'm David Henson, managing partner with HensonFuerst Attorneys. We help people through the long and exhausting process of attaining Social Security Disability benefits everyday. Of the many things we've learned along the way, one lesson is clear: The SSA looks for reasons to reject your claim. Here are the top 5 things you can do to help SS shut you out.

1. Don't get medical care for your conditions.

2. Do drugs or alcohol.

3.Break the law, or end up in jail.

4.Don't keep your lawyer up-to-date on your situation.

5. Miss deadlines or appointments.

If you work hard all your life, and end up so injured or sick that you can no longer work, you may be eligible to receive Social Security Disability benefits. But just because you are eligible, that doesn't mean you are entitled. There is a world of reasons why your case may be not be approved...don't hand the courts a reason to deny your claim.
This is David Henson, with HensonFuerst Attorneys. For more information about how we can help you fight for your SSD benefits, visit our website at LAWMED.com/SocialSecurityDisability/. Or, call us at 1-800-4-LAWMED.

If you have questions, HensonFuerst has answers.

I never received it! I was denied for 9 YEARS even though I did EVERYTHING you said! In the end, none of it mattered! They just completely ignored all statements and records from my doctors and their doctors made up things in their reports because they have an ulterior motive and a conflict of interest, not to mention two of them were overtly racist and biased against me. My doctor sent them multiple personal letters and even took time out of his busy schedule to call them himself to tell them that I was permanently disabled and STILL they denied me! So going to see their doctors and getting my doctors to say I was disabled was a waste of time AND money! I even had a crappy lawyer that expected me to do everything and on top of that, they abandoned me a week before the ALJ hearing, leaving me to face them in court ALONE!!! Lastly, I have no criminal record and am not on any drugs of ANY KIND! They have NO EXCUSE! These people don't care if I'm sick and homeless, starve to death, or commit suicide because I'm tired of the pain and suffering! Racist, evil, system!

After my 2nd denial I finally got a lawyer. After a 2 year wait I was finally approved. I have 2 incurable diseases, seeing 4 doctors, mri's, colonoscopys, cat scans. Whew, it was a long wait but now I can breathe easier while I keep doctor appointments.

If you have medical records of your illness it shouldn’t take years or months to receive the benefit. You pay into the system you should get help when you need it. You shouldn’t have to prove you deserve anything!

Another way is stay off of social media and posting happy pictures

I had good luck with my case several years ago. I did not actually hire an attorney but a lawyer commercial I saw on TV provided great guidance on how to better my chances of winning. The lawyer commercial had focused on appeals. They later changed their service to include original applications for disability benefits after I won my case without having to file an appeal.
  • You are amazing I cannot believe you actually gave advice like that. I don't think I've ever seen a video on YouTube that was as helpful as this one! You are an absolute angel.

    1. They will use medical records to deny you, even if those records support you in every way they will find cause to use them against you or consider them to "carry no weight" and they don't need a reason to do this, they just do it. 2. If you don't use drugs or alcohol you will be considered non compliant and stable and they will use it to deny you. 3. If you get along fine with others it will be used as evidence that you are not disabled. 4. If you are capable of making appointments you are capable of working. I feel sorry for anyone who thinks they are doing something wrong. You are presented with 2 choices multiple times along the way, no matter which side you fall it will be considered the ineligible side and it's designed to give the impression of free will and make you blame yourself. It's designed to be ruinous I guess.
  • I was 41when I was approved ssd for arthritis and severe chronic pain, I never stepped into any office and did all over the phone. but I Han years of treatment from orthopedic surgeons and a letter from my doctor stating I was permanently disabled and could never work again. it took three months but they paid me for from the very day I called to get SSD. it hurts me to know the hell people go through when they should have been approved the first time
  • Most important make sure you have a good lawyer. Mine sat there and said nothing. The judge looked at my medical records and reprimanded the lawyer for not speaking up and asked her how I in my condition was I supposed to do the jobs they were stating I could get. He then conceded I was disabled and granted me my appeal. No thanks to the lawyer who took 1/3 of my back payments for doing nothing but keep totally silent and responding nothing at this time judge.
  • Amen !! Your absolutely right about all .yrs ago I had a strong case . They looked back at my medical records , asking ME WHY I haven't been or missed my doctors appointment asked bout my drinking , they said just about every thing .to make me look bad & after telling judge I didn't have away . Wrong answer for me , because I feel he thought if I was in pain I could have found away . So I was denied . now I attend all Doctor apt. THANKS FOR SHARING!!

When I applied after being injured at work, I had no idea I was even eligible. It only took 6 weeks to begin and was back payed for 2 years. Without my SSDI, I would have been in the streets.
