Keanu Reeves had a global hit with his action-packed movie The Matrix, and none of his movies since then really lived up to how amazing it was. That is, until John Wick rolled around in 2014. This action-packed shooter with a simple plot became a surprise hit and introduced the world to some awesome gun-fu action.

The movie does raise a few questions though! Like how did they manage to get the producers to get off their back about worldbuilding details and love interests? How does anyone feel safe at the Continental Hotel? Why didn’t Viggo stick around to make sure his men took care of John Wick, and why did John make a deal with Viggo just moments later? Also, why didn’t anyone Google Baba Yaga?

To answer all these questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to John Wick! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

The "pow pow pow, pow" variation of "wow wow wow, wow" is the highlight of my day now.

And so they killed his dog This was the first time the boss guy showed a bit of humanity
  • The face when he hears that the dog was dead is literally the funniest thing I’ve ever seen today
  • @tipsyt1909
“You’re really making it hard for me to ruin this thing.” The highest compliment I’ve seen pitch meetings give a movie

"what does she die of?" "she dies of being the wife of a main character in an action movie" lmaooooo
  • @inariinari750
“And so they kill his dog” silence Some people better die for that.
  • @Kragnar1
That reaction to the news the dog dies... “some people better die for that” was my EXACT reaction when watching this movie! Spot on!

Can we just talk about how amazing Ryan's acting is?
  • "She dies of being the wife of the main character in an action movie." "That can be deadly" 😂😂😂
  • @andrewotaku1679
"Well, as long as the dog is okay." "And they kill his dog." "… Okay, so people better die for that."
  • @MariAnKenobi
I can’t get enough of this pitch! “John Wick is gonna kill people for an hour and a half because his dog was murdered?...I’m honestly okay with that.” That’s how I felt watching this movie. 🤣

"You're making it really hard for me to ruin this thing." What a perfect line.
  • @allisworld1isme
You know he liked the movie when even the producer guy can’t ruin it.
  • "John Wick is going to kill people for an hour and a half for killing his dog?" "Yes sir" "I'm completely ok with that"
  • "Pow pow pow pow pow" instead of "wow wow wow wow wow" Mixing things up is tight!
  • "a fist fight with a sixty year old" is sending me 😂😂😂 Ryan's delivery is perfect!
  • Being-the-wife-of-the-main-character-in-an-action-movie is a serious terminal illness and should not be taken lightly. Edit: Well damn; thanks for all the likes, ya'll.

"You're making it really tough for me to ruin this thing." Spot on.

So many of these pitch meetings are just an entertaining way to confirm my choice not to watch a particular movie. Then there are the ones, like this, that remind me what a fun movie it was, and how I should go watch it again. Thank you, Ryan. 👍
