I was surprised that none of those stones were attached to the trailer!

At 7:23 "Give us a call, we'll help ya". Brilliant Ash and so you! I guess that's a great line you get to use in a marked driving school car.
  • @SurgeDashcam
These videos are such a change of pace from a typical dashcam compilation and it's quite refreshing. You have hit the sweet spot for entertainment and education. Keep 'em coming Ashley!

In that first video, sadly when you say ‘leave space for all vehicles when parking’ a lot of people think this means they should park up on the pavement, blocking pedestrians instead. Amazing how many people can’t park a few yards down the road and use their legs for the rest.
  • @SirBradiator
Don't enter a yellow box junction unless your exit road is clear. What happens if you can't see the exit road? Would be an interesting legal challenge if anyone was ever fined for stopping in that box.

7:15 “Give us a call, I’ll help ya.” I’m sorry but if I were your pupil, we’d be parked up the rest of the lesson cos I’d be laughing too much 😂😂

The bus been stuck behind two poorly parked vehicles happened to me a while ago, couldn't get through so a van behind me decided to drive on the pavement to get past near where kids was playing. I just wish i could get the CCTV off our buses to send to you Ashley for driving fails i see on a daily basis.

Positive reinforcement works a lot better than we think, I know it from my 30-year-old experience as a teacher. Loved the video, thanks for sharing. Regards from Spain.

I wish the instructors near me were more like you. There are just to many of them, that reaaly don't give two figs to the highway code. I though of myself to be a fairly decent driver, but have learnt so much watching your vids. Thank you.

11:00 I honestly think this situation could have been dealt with better. Not excusing the man walking on the wrong side of the barriers, but if he slipped or tripped on the curb, passing this close could have turned nasty.
  • @VictheSecret
'At least he was signalling'. Trouble is, far too many drivers think their indicators are a combination of a force field and immediate priority over everyone else, regardless of reality.
  • @Danniredrocks
I think that's my previous instructor in the clip at 10:51! Great instructor, only had to change because I moved away. These videos are so helpful to me as someone who recently got their licence. Thanks Ashley!

The yellow box just needs cameras to finish it off.

First clip reminds me of a beginner driving lesson I gave recently. Got a kid to park up on the left after driving a little loop, and a white panel van pulled up on the right just ahead (which was on a bend to the right). I then had to endure the discomfort of watching other drivers struggle to navigate around our vehicles, and of course a good handful of them gave the school vehicle the dirty look!
  • 1:20 Admittedly, he probably thought you beeped because you were angry he skipped all the traffic
  • @Sneakglove
Fun fact, Gandalf used to be a driving instructor but had to give up as none of his students ever passed.

First (intro) video is a perfect example of the car car car mentality we have on the roads today and forget about large vehicles which include Ambulances are Fire Appliances.
  • @Cookster997
1:02 This is a perfect example of how sounding the horn is an ambiguous signal, just like flashing of the lights.
  • @grahamnutt8958
A sense of humour at the right time reinforces whatever point you are making. I don't know the psychology behind this but it is something that I discovered 40+ years ago. It would explain why some subjects/topics taught in School were either remembered or forgotten in later life. Delivery was the key factor. This applies to Driving Instruction and most other environments as well. Hope that makes sense.

6:46 You told the girl, "Hold back, clutch down" as she was turning into the side road where the van was partially blocking the road further up. Then you immediately gave her a bollocking for braking and holding back, telling her, "It wasn't right - we're stuck out in the junction! Move forward!". You told her to hold back while she was still out in the junction and then when she does hold back as you instructed, you contradict yourself and tell her to move forward! Poor girl, she does what you tell her to do and then gets a telling off for it. Sometimes you don't give clear instructions. What you should have said when she was still out in the junction, instead of, "Hold back, clutch down", was, "Enter the side road and stop short of the van, clutch down". Do you see the difference? Instead of telling her to hold back in the middle of the junction and then giving her a telling-off for doing what you told her, you would have got her to safely enter the side road and got her out of the junction.
