While not rare, the Baikal IZH 94 chambered in 12ga AND 7.62x39 is one very cool firearm. Hope you enjoyed the video and as always Thanks For Watching. If you like this video Please Like, Favorite, Share and Subscribe. More Info below, check it out.

To all dear viewers of this video for reference: This weapon is a version for hunting, the prototype of which was the TP-82 pistol developed by the Tula arms factory in 1981. It was created for Soviet cosmonauts as a means of survival in emergency situations. after the cosmonauts landed in the taiga or tundra, he could help protect himself from wild animals or get food until the rescue team arrives

Baikal are very well made - i bought a cheap over/under in the 80's for clay pigeon shooting and it was so well made - easy to strip everything including the trigger, for cleaning - watching this makes me miss my old Baikal

They probably didn't put an extractor so that if you wanted to shoot the rifle portion you can open and reload without the shotgun shell flying out every time.
  • Always wanted one of those. I've used an SKS for years as a deer and coyote gun out to 300 yards. They make a 154 grain soft point for the 7.62 that drops deer
  • The furniture on this looks so damn pretty. it's the type of gun you take to walk about your forest property to gather some mushrooms and when you get back you put it back in its glass display case in your hunting room.

This is very interesting, especially due to the "Russian survival weapon" title. I have rock climbed for around thirty years with a Doctor friend. On one occasion, on the way to a climbing venue, we had to make a detour to drop off a gun he owned at a gunsmiths workshop. The gun in question, he informed me, was called a "drilling" and was a side by side twelve bore shotgun with a 7,62 rifle barrel underneath. The gun in question had been given to my Doctor friend by a guy who had walked from northern US to Russia . . . overland . . . or rather over sea ! Across the Bearings sea!!!!! Using the gun to hunt to survive along the way .. . ! Remarkable gun. Remarkable guy. Remarkable story.

Last I heard Baikal was being distributed in the USA by Remington. That was last year when I was in Florida I stopped in a gun shop and the guy was surprised I had even heard of Baikal!!! That's a really awesome gun.

I’m 53,and when I was 21 here in the uk ,my first single barrel shotgun was in fact a Bikal ,same male as the one in the vid. Lovely made gun,and I dare say you could knock nails in with it all day, nice to see,it took me back, cheers chaps 👍🏻

7.62x39 soft point is an excellent deer round up to 100 yards in bush or plains. Its balisticly similar to a 30-30.

Love your videos, you're always happy and positive and excited and it makes me get excited about the gun too! Thanks Hoffman

The Russian guns are well made for cold and rough weather conditions. I owned a 12 Ga. Over and Under Shotgun for 15 years, with a mechanical switch as a choice between the 2 barrels for the first shot. It worked best without oiling gun parts. Made for Sibirean Hunters. But Cal. 7,62 X 54R, a case with a rim an d more power, is definitly the better round for all kinds of dear and moose, super precise even at a range of 500 yards.

the thing about the Baikal is that license and modernized variants are still in production, i happen to own one for example Guľobrok, the ZH 403 specifically, it made the concept of different calibers even better and more customizable

In Russia this gun known as IZH-94 "Taiga" (ИЖ-94 "Тайга"). It`s has changeble barells.

Love those combo guns. Reminds me of my Savage Model 24 .357/20 gauge. I would like to have one of those Baikal guns, it would be nice next to my M6 Scout in 22mag/.410, Henry Survival, and the Savage, and the Ruger 10/22 takedown. I really like take down guns, looks like that one would break down pretty quick as well. Love your videos, hopefully this message finds you feeling well today. Take care of yourself Bigdaddy, lots of us guys your sons age enjoy watching you shoot and have fun. Especially if their situation is like mine and can no longer shoot with Dad. And I know little daddy wasn't in this video (haven't seen him in the recent ones and am not sure why), haven't went back and seen when Jason started with you, good to see you have someone helping you out and whatnot.

My granddad used to have one of these, but with the barrels joined throughout - so it made a more flush look. I loved shooting that thing... He also used to self load shotgun shells, to create his own slugs, sort of.
