00:28 got me a little teary eyed, knowing how peaceful of a time it was back in the 90's.. family still alive.. sitting here at 34 years old with a wife and kid and still remember all these memories. It's not even about the game, it's about the time. :( tell your family you love them always. "watch out for spikes, hold on to your rings" always.

This game was pure magic in the early 90s. Remember seeing it at a kiosk in California (summer 1991) barely able to see over the counter!

This brings back countless memories. What a beautiful game and soundtrack. I can remember playing this in third grade. My older brothers got it for Christmas. The creators of this game can probably never understand how much of an amazing impact this game has had on people. Thank you for the excellent game and memories it danced along with.

Being a child in the 1980s and 1990s is an experience like no other, before and after. I weep for the children today. They could never know the excitement and wonder we had.

This is what made Sonic and Mario one of THE best side scroller game ever. The art, music and level of challenge that made this and Mario a game I can still up to this day play it for hours

god i missed these sounds. i used to watch my older brothers play on the lil red sega console we had. i was the youngest, but was surprisingly able to get further than anyone else in the game! i almost defeated eggman! for another time.

I'll never forget the first time playing this game. Green Hill Zone. The amazing visuals. The insanely catchy music. The fast gameplay that the NES was no capable of... Just blew my mind. Also, Spring Yard Zone will always be my favorite song from this game.
