Harris VP Pick Tim Walz's China Connection: Asset or Liability?

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz has connections to China, including a teaching stint in Guangdong province, that could help inform a potential Harris administration’s approach to Beijing. However, his views and experience may also spell trouble with Chinese leaders and Republicans. Bloomberg's Jill Disis reports.

    Plenty of Americans have spent a year or two teaching in China. He did so decades ago. He's not fluent in either Mandarin or Cantonese (despite claims I've seen to the contrary), so at best he may have enough familiarity with Chinese culture/customs to avoid offending Chinese politicians. Then again, I guarantee the US state department has a much deeper understanding of those things, and prepares politicians as needed prior to important interactions.
