Moments of Totality and 360 degree sunset - Hermitage, Tennessee. 8/21/17 Great American Eclipse.

Published 2017-08-21
1:28 CDT, about 10 miles east of downtown Nashville on August 21, 2017. On the grounds near President Andrew Jackson's Hermitage. Fair weather cumulus obscured the sun at times during the partial phases leading to totality, then moved out just in time. Temperature fell from 93 to 86. The air took on an evening aroma and the pine tree nearby was noticeable. Cicadas sounded their evening songs. 360 degree civil twilight not just in the west, but north, east, and south. And that thing in the sky - the darkest blue/gray with lightning colored mist surrounding, before the diamond ring appeared signaling the end with a light nearly incomprehensible. Unbelievable experience that the video doesn't quite capture, but is second to none.
