Flying from New York City to Naples, Italy to compare pizza. Representing NYC we have Joe's pizza and for Naples we have L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele. Both pizzas were incredible but there can only be one winner.

  • 4 dollars for a slice of pizza vs 5 dollars for a whole pizza. Damn that's some real value right there. Ugh... Now I'm craving for pizza. 🥺
  • @andrealatela
Here in Italy lots of restaraunts sells pizza at that price. It's considered the ''dish for the poor'' that's why it's affordable for anyone. When we travel to other countries we are curious to try pizza as well, even if we're not in Italy but we always been hit by the prices.. like, 20 dollars or more. Insane!

I'm from Naples and i tried a lot of pizzerias in my life, and i can say with confidence that the best in the world is in Caserta! Please do a video on this pizzeria, i don't know why it did not become popular outside of italy but here it is a known fact. It is called "I Masanielli di Francesco Martucci" and has won 3 times in a row the title of best pizza in the world by "50 top pizza" and they well deserve it. Da Michele is good but it is the old style of pizza making, now there is a new style that is taking italy by storm, and no food blogger outside of italy has tried it, i highly recommend it and you cold be the first!
  • Italy has the best food in the world, not only pizza, thousands of different specialties in every region, salty or sweet, also the freshest quality/healthier food you’ll ever eat

I grew up in Europe and spent lots of time in Italy. I know the real Italian food. I do live in the USA since a few years. And it’s embarrassing, that many American think that the pizza you get in the USA is the real Italian pizza. Especially the NY piazza, has nothing to do with the real Italian pizza. 😂

5 dollars for that pizza is just incredible value

Here in Naples, is a tradition that pizza must be a type of food accessible to everyone, that's why you can find it at low prices. During this summer, a famous person called Briatore decided to open a restaurant selling pizzas at higher prices, and ooooooh boy you can't imagine how the neapolitans took that. They started to criticise the prices and some neapolitan pizzerias arrived to the point of selling pizzas for lower prices or even FREE. That has been a crazy week.
  • A New York slice and a genuine pizza from Naples are two completely different things. There is no comparison.
  • The airport staff would've been so confused to see a man walking while holding out a giant slice of Joe's pizza like a NAVIGATOR
  • @ReCreso
As a Neapolitan, what really killed me is that he got just a normal gelato and he called it the best he's ever had... imagine if he'd tried our best gelato, lol. Anyway, great video! But to have the best pizza fritta in Naples, you need to go to La Masardona or to La figlia del Presidente. Di Matteo is great, too, but it's famous mostly for its frittatina di pasta (a fried pasta pie with meat, peas and cream). It's a shame you didn't try it, but that makes another reason to come back here! <3

I've had many pizzas in both NYC & Italy. NYC pizza is the best. Pizza in Naples has a soggy base(like a wet sweaty gym shirt) with carcinogenic, bitter black spots all over. Topped with a watery, soupy sauce. A pizza so sloppy, it must be eaten with a knife and fork. The cheese is good, but eat it fast! When the cheese cools, it turns to rubber.
  • @CharlieChang
Be right back flying to Italy to get that $5 pizza 😍
  • Also you don't need to look for the "best pizzeria in the world" in the centre of Naples and wait for 1 hour to eat a good pizza, you can find great pizzerie everywhere in Campania, even in small villages.
  • @terri9917
Its not about "someone brings this to America" because people already tried it! The difference it makes the ingredients and how/where they coltivate them. In Naples they use to coltivate in a volcanic land, the ground is very fertile and also the sea air makes the difference! many times something cant be the same as other ways, this is why if you visit the rest of Italy you won't find the same pizza as in Naples! ;D
  • @2112theoden
Pizza Napolitana is protected by law. It must have the right ingredients and made a certain way to be called Pizza Napolitana. Can't wait to see what you think of Pizza Romana. I had no idea when I visited Rome that in take away pizzarea's they cut a portion from long rectangular pizza's with scissors then they weigh it and that's how much it costs. Italy is an awesome country that everybody should visit.
  • I have been to the first place you went to in Italy. I was blown away with my first bite. It was as if I had never eaten pizza before. I found a great pizza place in NYC in the East Village at 28 2nd Ave. It's run by Neapolitans and it's fabulous. Hope it is still there.
  • Great content here! 👏🏼👏🏼 By the way, here in Italy we have so many kind of pizzas! For the next time, I highly suggest you my preferred one: “the bufalina”! It’s a pizza with a ton of buffalo mozzarella (that has totally a different taste compared to the normal one) and fresh tomatoes! But actually I’m a sauce lover, so I ask for the “red bufalia”, in this way you get an amazing margherita, with a ton of buffalo mozzarella, red sauce, fresh sliced tomatoes, basil and just one bite of it brings you directly to the heaven! For tonight I definitely have to schedule for a seat in a pizzeria hahaha Other than that, must try are: -“the calzone”, that’s basically a folded pizza stuffed with some magic sauce and Neapolitan salami -“the montanara”, which has only the dough fried but on the top it looks like a margherita, so you can see the sauce, the basil and the mozzarella, not like the “pizza fritta” that basically is the fried version of the calzone Believe me or not, this is just the tip of the iceberg 😂
