In Leviticus, God invites Israel to live in close proximity to His holy presence. Which seems awesome, but it’s actually dangerous. This book explores how the sacrificial rituals and purity practices cleared the way for morally corrupt Israelites to become God’s covenant partners.

  • Leviticus is one of the toughest reads for me, but the bible Project reaaally helps me to better understand the word of the Lord🤩 As of 7/1/23 I needed to revisit this post to express my gratitude to so many who have come alongside this message because you are all for advancing the kingdom of heaven! Hallelujah!! And I also corrected the word "interpret" with "understand." This is all for the glory of God, in Jesus name!🙌🏽🥳 Amen!

I just finished Exodus and I felt weird about the animal sacrifices but I understand it was a way of the animal to die instead of them. Like Jesus died instead of us 😭💓
  • I found this during quarantine, and this made Leviticus much more understandable for me.
  • The Scapegoat in 5:11 got me in my feels. I was the Scapegoat in my Dysfunctional Narcissistic Family household. Scapegoats carry the families shame because they won’t carry it themselves. I believe God allows it because we are strong enough to bear and transform it. The scapegoat is usually the one that “wakes up” and reaches out to God. So beautiful to see the connection.

This is the Khan Academy of the Bible. Well done!
  • 2019 Dear Bible Project, Whoever are the people behind your project are blessed! Thank you for simplifying the Bible to non-theologians or non-pastors! The infographics is awesome! Peace!

I'm 100% atheist but admire this collections so much. The plain unbiased way you describe and narrate these is refreshing to say the least. As a result I am reading KJV every single page. Still Atheist, but now have a greater appreciation for the faith of those who aren't. Thanks. Anyway it's breakfast time and I need toast. So I am about to make a burnt offering to my stomach :-)

  • My first read through of the Bible. I read through Leviticus and actually understood it just like this video. It was definitely hard to focus past all the rules. I had to find where the rules started and stopped and then it made sense
  • I had a reading plan ..I don't know why I stagnated at LEVITICUS, I am going to reread it and understand it one more time🙏🙏

  • I had an atheist friend who asked, " why doesn't God just reveal himself to people" I said' if hid did so, you would be destroyed in his presence...

Thank God for this video, I was having such a hard time understanding Leviticus and how it can be related to the present time. This video popping up led me to find this YouTube channel and it makes applying the bible to current times SO. MUCH. EASIER. Ps. I love how Jon keeps saying things are weird because that’s literally what I kept thinking while reading through it😂

This was extremely helpful to understanding a book that has felt so dry, tedious, strange, and irrelevant to me!
