When I vacationed in cuba, I hurt my hand pretty bad and I was in a bad mood. This begger came up to me, an older woman. She seemed homeless and put her hands out for money. I shoo'd her away or just sighed or something. I can't remember, I was in pain and didn't want to deal with her. She wasn't the usual con artist trying to draw a picture of you while you walk and try to force you to give you money. She was just begging. I thought about what I had just done and prayed to god, "Lord if you want me to help that woman, put her in my path once more." Sure enough after a couple blocks down I see her sitting against a wall looking sad. It tore my heart apart as it seemed she gave up after me. I gave her all the cash I had in my pocket and watched her face shine like I had never seen before. I had to give thanks to god for convicting me of my actions and the gift he gave me once I did the right thing.

“Treating others as the image of God.” wow that hit me

As a social worker in the U.S.A I find myself coming back to this video again and again to remind myself that God is so much more than those who try and represent them. The scene at the end where the figure takes and deep breath and get to work, and the very end of the seemingly endless task of pulling people out of injustice bring me to tear every time. It represents my feelings so well.

This should be re-shared. This is more timely than ever.
  • Treating others as the lmage of God...Wow I had never seen it that way !! Thats a life changing statement

The symbolism at the end of using the Holy Spirit as a lifeline to save the oppressed, unexpectedly brought tears to my eyes.

There is beauty in simplicity. The scarf...moving like the Holy Spirit, moved me.
  • It’s so important to have a Biblical understanding of justice. Without a godly response to injustice, the cycle continues.

"When the oppressed gain power, they often become oppressors themselves." It happens way too often. Sad but true.

"Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne." Psalm 89:14
  • I am in law school, so i love to watch videos about justice in a christian way. Thank you so much, bible project. God bless you all ❤
  • "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."
  • @misskennys
YouTube recommended this, the thing is we are facing this in Nigeria right now. Thanks for creating this video
  • I'm a first year law student, justice is one of the core definitions of law, and I was sadenned to see that some proffessors pointed out it was a feeling or that is was completely subjective (though yes it happens) but looking to the concept from the bible perspective is the most beautiful and truthful definition of justice! Glad this was adressed by such a good video, may God bless everyone.

When Y’all said that part of righteousness was to make someone else’s problem your own that was a kind of woah moment for me because that is something you NEVER hear; what we hear: “That’s your problem not mine” “Deal with it” and dozens of other phrases like it is very surprising that own bible doesn’t says to toughen up deal with your own problems and don’t let anyone make you vulnerable or let people help themselves it’s their problem(s) not yours, but instead to have MANY counselors to help you throughout your life and to love our neighbors as yourselves and to put fiber of your being to giving to those in need I remember when I read Acts 2:43-47 the believers form a community and reading that they gave so much to each other that no one needed anything because they gave everything was truly something that baffled me when I first read it and amazed me at the same time of the kinds of changes God will put into the hearts of his people
  • You guys are creating some of the most influential content I’ve ever experienced in my life. I came across the bible projects podcasts a few months ago, and it has been a point for me to strengthen my faith in one of the hardest moments of my life. I came across an extremely personal and traumatizing act of injustice. One that affected me so deeply that my faith was tested to a point where I even yelled at the sky in tears and asked god if he was even real. I had never thought I was capable of such an acquisition, but sometimes its hard for us to see why things happen. I can without a doubt say that without the content that has been created here I would not be the person I am today, and i would not be going so far out of my way to try and uphold justice against the forces of evil I’ve personally experienced in this world. Thank you guys for spreading god’s word and for wanting me to be virtuous.

I have watched this so many times and it still gets me every time 😭 especially the last illustration!!! This is a whole new level of ‘loving one another’ that I’m still learning to unfold. Having the courage to speak up for those who have no voice & treating others as the image of God. Wow. Thank you Bible project for the awesome videos ♥️
