I only realised it now, but I think the song is about self harm. It was at the point when Till sang about seeing the other persons's face in the mirror, where I realised that Till is singing as the inner voice of a person with tendencies towards self harm und the "it" being the person who can't help themself but to give in to their desire

Fun Facts: The video was shot after the concerts with the assets from the live show. till wasnt pleased with the cable from the light in his mouth coming out of the mouth, so he pierces a hole in his chin. also i love about the song the twist where he said "i see your face in the mirror" so its not about harming others

Welll, you can say it is a song about extreme S/M, but it goes deeper. The key is the line "I see your face in the mirror", so he is singing about himself all the time. The rest I leave up to you 😉

Among other things, because of this song, the album "Liebe ist für alle da" (Love is for everyone) was censored. Censorship means that it cannot be advertised or sold to those under 18. -> The responsible family ministry does not like the album LIEBE IST FÜR ALLE DA at all. Especially the explicit artwork, the song 'Ich tue dir weh' and the title 'Pussy' are not acceptable. "Indexed were 'Ich tue dir weh' as well as the photo of the artwork, which depicts Richard with the woman lying on his knee. The reason given was that this was a depiction of S/M practices harmful to minors." The review panel was also of the opinion that the single title "Pussy" would encourage "unprotected GV in times of AIDS." Fake's response: "Lorenz accused the panel of "petty-bourgeois understanding of art" and an encroachment on civil rights. The musician, once a member of the GDR punk band Feeling B, told the newspaper, "If freedom of expression in Germany means that Nazis are allowed to shout 'foreigners out' unchallenged, while our record is taken out of circulation, we haven't made much progress. [...] How stupid do these people think our fans are? Or do they seriously think that anyone sees this as a call to go to the hardware store, buy a roll of barbed wire and pull it through a woman's urinary tract?"

Till is very talented. He created so memorable and original vocal melody in the bridge at 5:18. I briefly fell out of reality

Till writes his lyrics about all kinds of love. Very normal but also very perverse forms. That doesn't mean he's into all of that himself. For the video, he had a hole pierced in his cheek to insert the cable for the mouth light. One of the band members said he later had fun squirting his drinks out through the hole. During the live performances, the cable went through the corner of his mouth, and the hole was closed again.

How is it that Rammstein could create a song that is disgusting and violent, yet still be emotional and sensual? The delivery of the chorus, “I hurt you, I’m not sorry,” somehow gives me internal tears. I have no clue why.

With Rammstein theres always a deeper meaning. I think in the song it sounds like here is punishing his partner, but looking deeper it seems he is doing all this torture on himself, and he dosen't feel sorry about it

So, I am freaked out… I was just talking to my son about this song. Then 1 minute after, I go on YouTube and see that this video has been posted 8 hours ago in my feed…. Is it just a coincidence or is there some kind of technology in my phone that heard me and the algorithms posted this video on my feed? Anyways, I saw Rammstein in Montreal last Sunday and OMG what a concert!!!! The US and Mexico are in for a treat!

Rammstein is pure power ,the light in his mouth is real ,not CGI .

Someone mentioned it but Til had them cut a hole in the back of his jaw to run the wire for the light. Til insisted on that method. This is my favorite song by Rammstein!!! 🤘
