95% of my hunting is done with fixed parallax scopes. Run a Maven RS2 2-10x38 on my ultralight 25-06ai & 280ai rifles, and that scope has served me well out west in the midwest and back home in the southeast on both guns so cant complain.

Sound in formation on fix parrallax scopes. I've in fact just gone back to fixed parrallax scope , but I have reduced it from 100 yards to 25 /30 yards parrallax being I am using this one on a air rifle , cheers for the great video. 👍

Desert dog for president. This dude always cuts through the sea of bullshit on the net

My Kahles 1.5-6x42 has a fixed parallax and works just fine. Using a M70 in 7x57, I enjoy hunting at 25-250yds. My Kahles is perfect for my use, crystal clear and dependable.
  • This is quality true & factual information. This is not opinion or how one may choose to bend rules to suit a particular isolated need. This is, what it is & is inarguable truth. How truly refreshing.

Thanks DD for teaching our up and coming hunters and even those who have been hunters for awhile! Having been around hunting all my life and hunting going on 60+ years and still picking up new tidbits from your videos! Sad but not all new hunters are going to learn because of all the crap on YouTube but it’s still going to help so keep them coming my friend!
  • Great video!!! I´m just writing a book speaking about the mountain huntings that we have in Spain and my opinion is 100% like yourself. Thanks for your kind effort!

Spot on, what a wonderful Christmas treat, an intelligent look at hunting scopes!

Loving the scope series. Thanks again for sharing your wealth of knowledge. Most people have no idea you can use scope shadow for minimizing parallax error.
  • Thanks for the great video DD. I personally never intend to take much more than a 300 yard max shot hunting and have only taken a caribou at 231 yards for my longest shot. My needs make it so I just slap a leupold vx3 3.5-10x40 or trijicon ascent 3-12x40 on top of a rifle and hunt with it.
  • Have leupold 2-7x33 on my 7mm-08 and had a guy say to it I’d never run closed turrets or fix parallax on a gun. My comment was this guns for hunting and back packing and most of my shots are with in 200 yards. Simple scope set up has less go wrong when in the field.

I have become an expert from watching your videos

Nice video . I am new subscribers I use schmidt and bender 8x56 on all my hunting rifles except my 30-06 it wears a schmidt and bender 4-16x50 this is my long range hunting rifle 350 yards max. As you say set and forget 99% of my hunting is 250 yards and under know the rifle know your drop point and shoot no faffing about adjusting dialing etc Yes I have upto 30 mag scopes there fantastic on my long range target rifles but there certainly not hunting rifles . Greetings from the uk

Sensei, I humbly appreciate the gift of your knowledge and insight.

Great Video DD. The scopes on my hunting rifles and on my kids rifles are all fixed parallax for the reasons of ruggedness, simplicity and weight. Ive hunted in the west my entire life which a lot of people seem to think mandates a high magnification target/prc scope which I can understand if your hunting strategy is to just start blasting away at longrange rather than stalking in for a closer shot. Long stalks through rugged country, ethical hunting distances and long packins and outs- ill take my lower magnification fixed parallax scopes all day.

Great Information! It's hard for me to keep it simple. Recently purchased a 2.5-10x42 w/plex reticle at a great price, for about $50 more, could have the same model with a bdc reticle and parallax side adjustment. Man, that was tempting. I hunt in a box and watch the world go bye. Out of said box, my longest shot is 75 yards... Even at the range, I will not exceed MPBR. Great decision re-enforcement support. Thank You Very Much!!!
