a lot of people in the splatoon 3 community tend to get extremely angry because shiver has won the vast majority of the splatfests that have taken place. however, i personally think that she never had an impact, and people are just over exaggerating.

It’s almost like people actually pick their team based off the theme or something 🤯

Mirror matches are becoming a huge issue with splatfests, and it just puts the popular team at a huge disadvantage in tricolor (Not even the leading team, just popular) because mirror matches give you nothing. Team Handshake's win here also makes me think of this issue ngl, not shiver.
  • @Trikspen77
I think that a lot of people were mad at handshake winning because the majority of fist bump and hug players just got mirror matches. I had one tricolor game that wasn't a mirror match out of every tricolor game I played. So basically, only a small portion of fist bump and hug people actually influenced the results.

I really don't think Shiver swayed any splatfest besides the obvious one, specifically because I knew all lot of people chose nessie because "water dino cute" and alot of people chose power due to either being a dictator like me or thirsting over Ganon. I really don't think Shiver actually sways the vote that much just based on her own popularity, if anything Frye is the Idol who has people choosing her team because of she's their favourite idol. Now of course that doesn't mean Shiver popularity means nothing but more people dislike her now than they like her so........... ┐(´ー`)┌

I legit ben telling people not to join the most popular team because having mirror matches can massively affect you in the most negative way possible
  • Yeah i don't think they are rigged either. Shiver literally just gets the best options. GGF and MFL were two objective questions, and like, it's just instinctively obvious. VSM.C is also understandable because of one reason: vanilla is really hard to mess up, and the flavor is so basic most desserts use it so it's reliable. If the bias exists, it's def nintendo sided. They should really think of more subjective questions like zelda splatfest was, there is so many themes they could go and a lot of people in the team, it's not that hard. or just make all the options equally silly in a real situation lol
  • @Angel..L
Vanilla is just the most popular flavor worldwide. In a lot of polls it’s usually in Top 3 and most of the time is above or right below chocolate. I agree with you if Big man was chocolate this fest would’ve been different.
  • @Daykiske
The Zelda splatfest was also swayed because of ganon, His totk design definitely made people pick it
  • @randomcat3780
Idk why everyone saying it’s shivers fault. It’s the freaking PEOPLE who pick her

It's interesting that mirror matches are brought up as the problem now since the least popular team won, even though this is the first time it has happened in Splatoon 3. Reminds me a lot of splatoon 2 fests, except people forget that each team had the same number of matches that counted to the total. It just meant the least popular team happened to be more skilled compared to the other teams. It is not like team handshake had more battles than any other team, just the individual experience is different from a member of the more popular teams

Keep in mind the latest splatfest is the first one where JP has been separated from the other regions. All prior splatfest were worldwide, and since JP has the largest player base, they basically decided which splatfest team won through their significantly larger player base. This is the first splatfest without JP influence, so we'll have to wait and see how things play out. With that being said, mirror matches are still awful, and needs to be removed and altered in some way. And the splatfest themes in general needs to be much better.

I can just about guarantee that there is a minimum of a couple percentages that grind out Splatfest entirely so Shiver can win. My proof? People openly admit to doing so and I even saw an online argument where a Shiver simp (I don't use that term lightly) was nearly crying because Shiver lost her win streak. And teams were never mentioned the entire argument - exclusively the idols. That heavily suggests to me that there is at least a group of people who absolutely grind Splatfests exclusively so Shiver can win. All it takes is enough multiplier battles
  • I've mentioned this to my friends and even other comments. It goes from best pick, okay pick, joke pick. If they shuffled the options and gave each idol a random team, there would be a lot more variety and better balancing. Another way to fix it would be to give all the idols a joke choice, like having ice cream choices be pistachio, bubblegum, or birthday cake, or literally anything else that isn't best choice, okay choice, joke choice
  • I will keep saying this, but IMO all they need to do is remove mirror matches, sure that will most likely mean much more wait time between matches, but at this point I'm pretty sure everyone would take that over spending multiple matches in a row being 'literally' pointless mirror matches. Heck, I can imagine more people would JOIN Tri-color battles just knowing that they'd no longer encounter mirror matches!
  • @Baymax2022
Team handshake won by only 3 points, so the results could be different next time.
  • By the time the last Splatfest I feel like it would leave a bitter taste knowing that Splat 3s Splatfest were mostly Prideful Shiver Fans Vs Wrathful Frye Fans which I don't see it being fixed anytime soon sadly

Okay If we're gonna talk Logic here then I'll go in deph. Gear/Grub/Fun You can make gear You can get food You can have fun doing two of those things. Gear would be the best answer though. Grass/Flame/Water This is just completely personal so I'm not gonna comment on this one! Spicy/Sweet/Sour Swwet wins here because it's literally the majority of what people like. Dark/Milk/White I think we ALL know why white won But I will say that Milk is the most common favorite chocolate type Nessie/Aliens/Big foot Logically aliens was the best answer and should have won. Nessie is confirmed to be fake so nessie should have been off the table. Aliens is the closest to being real. Power/Wisdom/Courage Power would be the best answer yes But people who pick power are usually the bad guys And what happens to the bad guys? They get defeated. So logically power would he the worst pick. Vanilla/strawberry/mint chip Vanilla is the most common ice cream flavor so this was a no brainer. Money/Love/Fame Logically you get love and momey with fame. So fame should have won in this case. Shiver/Frye/Big man Oh I could go on for days about this! But tltr: Shiver has the least leadership skills, Frye has the best, Big man isn't the best to pick as a leader. Frye should have won. Zombie/Skeleton/Ghost Zombie was off the table since a zombie would kill you Skeletons are hit or miss Ghosts could be loved ones who have passed away so it makes sense! Handshake/fist bump/hug First of all where the heck is 'wave"? /j Handshake makes sense here since you don't hug or fist bump strangers.
