The Making of the Fast and the Furious Saga was a Sh*t Show

Making a family is hard. Let’s talk about how difficult it was to make The Fast and the Furious Saga, from Vin Diesel walking away from the franchise (2 Fast 2 Furious), to Justin Lin fighting for a diverse cast (Tokyo Drift), or James Wan overcoming the death of Paul Walker (Furious 7), and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s feuds with Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson (The Fate of the Furious).

Correction: Ja Rule did not ask for $30 million. It was for an unknown amount still considered too expensive for director John Singleton.

Mark Kermode says that a good documentary can make you interested in a topic you care nothing about. For me, this video does just that. Bravo
  • @YodaOnABender
Every time I watch Vin Diesel take on 50 men on his own I just think “he probably wrote this scene himself”
  • @bryanasare1632
Their love for Paul was the most genuine thing (besides the fact that they milked it for marketing). U can tell because the franchise immediately split into two after he died.
  • I cried laughing in the theater when Dom said “the streets always win”. These movies gained comedic value with every rendition. Really took jumping the shark as their formula
  • @Zzzlol94
F7 is unironically the only action movie that made me cry at the end, with the memorial. They did the end perfect and so respectfully.
  • @marcen12
"3 bald guys in a movie..." Bruce Willis was sitting by the phone WAITING the entire time.
  • @alexhess1163
Vin Diesel is a DnD fan? This makes so much sense, as this entire franchise is essentially about a cabal of magical physics wizards.
  • @BKAngmar
The thought of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker running from the cops down an alleyway while giggling is one of the best things ever
  • It’s crazy to see how unpopular Tokyo Drift was at its release - everyone I know, myself included, see Tokyo Drift as the one of the best, if not THE best, in the series.
  • @indyalmighty
The Rock added some legit star-power to Fast5 despite not being an actual star in Hollywood, which in turn made him an actual movie star. Mental how things work
  • @MetalGamer666
People that have contracts that say they can't be portrayed as "weak" in any way aren't real actors. Imagine if Christian Bale had a contract like that so Batman could never lose a fight. It would be ridiculous.
  • Furious 7 should’ve been the end. The series could’ve ended cool. No one would’ve batted an eye.
  • Tokyo drift is still my favorite. Lucas black is probably the biggest downside. But I loved the way it looked, I loved the cast, and I LOVED the races. Really wish the studio hadn't interfered as much as they did
  • @yesman9792
Vin was actually decent in the first one, and in Saving Private Ryan. It sucks that he went down a different career path as far as what roles he took lol.
  • A film critic might call Tokyo Drift a failure. However that movie single handedly sparked a burning passion for cars inside millions of young boys all around the world. I would call that a success, since after all, these were originally meant to be movies about cars instead of ridiculous action films.
  • I still get emotional when the topic of Paul Walkers death comes up. It just made me so sad because I grew up with this series and it almost single handedly made me into a car enthusiast. As cheesy as these movies have become, they still have a special place in my heart.
  • @hotsauce5745
The first movie will always be my favorite. Everything was just taken more seriously and it was grounded. The stunts were cool but weren't exaggerated like future movies. And Vin Diesel actually gave a shit about his acting. I liked that he was a deuteragonist more than a protagonist. It wasn't the Dominic Toretto movie it was a Brian O'Conner movie.
  • @skatepork
RIP John Singleton. A director who could glide from studio tentpoles to intimate dramas almost seamlessly. The man died way too young but gave us a small legacy to appreciate.
  • @GageHeibeck
Fast & Furious may be one of the most mediocre money printing franchises in film history, but no other action movie can compare to Fast Five. The world's first car commercial disguised as a heist movie. Badass.
  • @Oskar_.
It’s crazy how the “worst fast” ended up becoming the best fast and furious
