As I am unsure weather to paint this Cub or if the foam is not worth excessive more work I took her for a spin preliminary assembled to check for weak spots and generall behaviour of gears ynd flaps.
Saying this: plane flies awesome neutral, had a good feel for the throws and deflections. The droop ailerons work amazing as well as the slotted flaps in any position. Elevator is almost perfectly mixed at a CG of 60mm off LE (65mm for the stock model) and I am super happy with that tweaking only minor preferences in.
Only thing needs to be redone is the tail wheel linkage to the rudder which is way too soft for directional control at low taxiing speed in cut grass. piece of cake...
The suspension is a blast. It just takes the landing shock and sticks on the ground. No bumping at all. Like a Baja Truck. You can approach steep and slow, hang ig on the prop and just drop it by stalling.
The aft compartment is just taped on because I took out the actuator and its 32g for maiden making the plane as light as possible. Also the engine dummies left sadly on ground.
Gave her 4S @ 13x6" CF prop what didn't show any thermal issues. Set the CG a pinch forward at 60mm LE what was bullseye.
So, shall I paint her? Make her a Competition Style STOL Drag plane or maybe is it worth it make her a RAT?
Maybe I will do a few videos on how I did things without budget like #tacoplane. Let me know.
