Here is just something that happened to me: -variant human character -take shield master feat -dump Dexterity because have shield master -fireball incoming -decides to read shield master -does not halve damage if dex save fails -fail dex save -die
  • The aberrant dragonmark is a feat created specifically for Eberron, so it's one of the few that you should really check with your DM

One of my favorite builds I’ve played is actually an Artillerist Artificer with 2 levels in Bladesinger, and the Healer Feat. The idea being that he’s a combat medic who’s really good at running around battlefields to treat wounded soldiers without becoming wounded himself. He had a Homunculus servant that was kinda like a BD1 style droid that rested on a port on the shoulder of his vest named Nurse, who would give him the help action to stabilize his allies, handing him tools, administering drugs, etcetera.

This guy is a total fucking gold mine for cool DND ideas

Imagine a rogue, with aberrant dragonmark, getting proficiency with everything. Meaning they would get reliable talent, in everything.

Crawford has actually revised his response on Shield Master stating that "if a feature says you can do X as a bonus action if you do Y, you must do Y before you can do X. For Shield Master, that means the bonus action must come after the Attack action."

Fun thing to add onto the Healer Feat is that this is amazing to get as a Necromancer type character, As unlike many healing spells that can't work on undead, The Healer's kit does not say you can't heal undead. This means that you can top off some damage to your zombies and keep them in the fight longer or keep that one ultra powerful undead you have for as long as you can
  • Eldritch Adept for at will spells, such as disguise self at will or minor illusion at will. You can be a perma-shifter or Robin Williams as the Genie from Aladdin. Bonus if you picked up the Faceless back ground, as a perma-shifter, as you can still be someone the party may recognize, and when in town, you can shift into anyone who's seen as a non-threat and waltz right into the castle when disguised as one of the dozens of butlers, scullery maids, and fire keepers that keep the royal bum warm on a cold morning. I bet you can hear battle plans one minute, change your appearance for when the commander asks for a someone to archive the battle plans, and whoops, your in possession of critical intelligence you can then sell to another person...

One character concept I wanna at least try out is a lv.14 illusion wizard with misty visions via eldritch adept. Create 15 feet large objects at will at any time.
  • I don't think that telekinetic can't be used to shove yourself, since the target has to be "moved 5 feet toward you or away from you". Since the movement is in relation to you, you can't move yourself away from yourself. You'll always be in the same space as yourself.
  • 6:35 actually, I'd argue that at from about level six or below or so, the fighter with a healer feat is actually a better healer than the cleric. A cleric at this level would need to expend all their spell slots pretty much to heal a party of 5 as much as the feat gives pretty much for free. That cleric now has basically no offense options left, but the fighter is still a level 6 fighter (Feats aren't free, but hey, look at that, they got an extra ASI at 6 for being a fighter).

Friend of mine played a Paladin with Shield Master and I was a Celestial Warlock with the Healer feat. We did pretty good.
  • I’m not sure if anyone’s brought it up yet, but the spell you get from aberrant dragonMark isn’t a once per day free cast: it’s once per short rest
  • @FreyaMaluk
1:10 Actually prone adds disadvantage on range attacks which can be really annoying for most rangers and spell casters.
  • @afasdfasafd314
mobile for sure, +10 feet of speed, no AOO and ignores difficult terrain with dash, great for speed builds and squishy martials such as rogues, monks, bladesinger wizards, hexblade warlocks and college of swords/valor bards.
  • @g80gzt
Eldritch Adept for Beguiling Influence: Yeah you could take a feat for two skills, and the potential to swap the effect next level... or take a feat for three skills. or take a feat for a 1-point-ASI, a skill, and expertise, no pre-reqs which works for any class ever.
  • @Halollet
You forgot a cool thing about Aberrant Dragonmark. You get that 1st-level spell back on a short rest as well. Its super good.
  • @Comicsluvr
Something that my V. Human Cleric did that worked well: Take the Healer Feat. After a battle, cast Beacon of Hope. Now for 1 minute, any Healing you do is at maximum instead of relying on a die roll. With the Healer Feat, you can restore 10 HP + their number of Hit Dice to each member of the party up to ten people. Yes, it's a 3rd level spell slot but it can generate up to a hundred HP for the party or more which is more than Mass Healing Word, Healing Spirit, or Prayer of Healing.
