The Mantle card sold for $12.6M if anyone was curious.
  • Love that you spoke to the guy who owned the Mantle card. It's always interesting to get the story behind the owner/owners

i worked at a bank back in 2008 and brought a guy back to his safety deposit box. and he showed me his mickey mantle rookie card. i kept telling him that im not supposed be shown whats in their boxes. but he insisted. was pretty cool. it was in amazing condition.

For someone who loves cards and collecting but lives in New Zealand your channel is such a blessing to watch. Would love to visit Nationals one day myself. Thank you so much for making this content.

SGC 9.5 mantle looks way better than the PSA 10 one imo
  • @Kameleon916
im new to the channel, and love the content. I've been a card collector since 85..I have a few grails to me, but nothing like what I'm seeing which is just amazing..thank you

The D-Backs Collection 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA-10 was purchased and owned by retired MLB pitcher Tom Candiotti for around $125,000 back in the mid to late 1990s. The Principal Owner of the Arizona Diamond Backs Ken Kendrick purchased it from Candiotti in a private sale. That's a notable pedigree for that card as well. However, the SGC 9.5 appears to be a better example.

Was so pumped to meet you! Thanks so much for taking the time to take a pic! Keep up the great content!

That SGC 9.5 Mantle says right on it that it’s the “Finest Known Example”, which it may very well be, because it looks way better than the PSA 10 Mantle.
  • Great show .. artistry of excellence in sports memorabilia .. thanks for sharing
  • Geoffs National content is worthy of a PSA 11! Great stuff Geoff, thank you.
  • Best episode yet! In the beginning wasn’t a fan of your channel but now I am especially with videos like this.

Thank you again to everyone at the national sports card investor booth for being so kind and thoughtful while I was there. Geoff couldn't have been any nicer or more generous with his time (despite being incredibly busy). Cant tell you enough how I very much appreciated you taking the time to talk with me and offer your advice about the Justin Verlander Rookie Auto card. Hearing that you read these comments and appreciate them was really cool. Maybe I'll see you guys again the next time a big show comes around. Hope you have a nice last day today. 🍻
  • Whenever I see those cards in the case, I think about the Ocean heist films.

My Sunday school teacher back in the 90s and early 2000s would have millions worth of cards but he lost his entire collection in a house fire, he had just closed his card shop and stored everything in his home. He used to bring a few of us kids cards to put in out collections, I got a few Jordan cards from him

It'd be super cool if you could do a video that could explain the reasons why these cards fetch the big money like what about that specific card makes it so valuable
