BIG CHANGE. HDT RV Travel. We've never done this before. RV Plans. RV Fulltime. Need to Vent.

Published 2024-02-29
First, we have to get out of Palm Springs on time.
Second, we have to finish a few scenic activities in the desert such as hiking the Coachella Valley Preserve and driving the Palms to Pines Scenic Byway.
Third, we have to deal with a change in plans.
Cancelling Joshua Tree National Park visit is disappointing but we're doing something much more epic.
Fourth, we have to hope that we are in time to our next destination because timing is critical on this one.
Fifth, DON'T HIT ANYTHING as we leave Thousand Trails in Palm Springs.

On our way, we have to vent due to pressure in our tanks.

Come join our Facebook Group, Big Truck Big Travels to get more details on our travels such as Alaska itinerary, annual costs and such.

RV Camping
We like to "Switch it Up" between resorts and campgrounds and boondocking is always an option.

We draw inspiration from Keep Your Daydream KYD, Less Junk More Journey, Finding Our Someday and Changing Lanes. We normally travel in an HDT similar to YouTube channels Suite Travels and Watts on Wheels. I also get some ideas from the editing style of Happily Ever Hanks (Happilyeverhanks) #thankshanks and believe it or not, I actually learned something from MRBeast Mr Beast video's as well.

Our journey is the destination. We want to share in our experiences in our discovery of What's Next.

I get my music from:
Epidemicsound.com
Tracks:
Bread and Butter by Lindsey Abraham
Country Girl by Wildflowers
Drinking you off my mind by Thyra
Olympus by Dream Cave
Toward Home by Cody Francis

Amazon Shop (no extra charge to you)
A convenient way to see (or buy) the items you see in the video's which may help in your adventure.

We use the TSD card for diesel fuel and save a bundle each time we fill up our Big Rig. We also use it to fill up our Onan generator.

The big blue boards (XL version) we use sometimes to get us "un-stuck" is from:

Our Class C is built by Thor Motorcoach on a Ford F550 chassis. It's a production build Magnitude model XG32. We tow our red Jeep Wrangler Sahara behind it. We've made some modifications to it so that we can boondock comfortably. Lithium batteries, Victron 3000w multi-plus inverter, dual alternators charge while traveling and mods to the water system greatly enhance it's boondocking capabilities.

Our extreme completely custom 5th wheel is built on a semi-trailer chassis with air suspension and air brakes. Completely loaded it weighs 42,000 lbs rolling down the highway. And we do roll down the highway nearly every week. You see, we believe that if your home has wheels they should be used.

Vehicles:
2016 Volvo VNL780 "Voyager"
2016 Smart fortwo "Pathfinder"
2019 SpaceCraft Custom built semi-trailer 5th wheel "Orion"
2023 Thor Magnitude XG32 Class C "Curiosity"
2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara "Artemis"

Power system:
3250 watts of solar with Panasonic panels
30.1 KWH of Lithium batteries
2- 4K watt Magnum Inverters deliver power as if we are on shore power
2- 4K watt 240v Cotek Inverters deliver additional power for our LG Mini split HVAC and stove

Coachnet is our roadside assistance company we use but hopefully we don't use them too often. LOL

We are not sponsored by Whataburger but I do enjoy them anytime I can get my hands on one. They used to be just out of Texas but they have expanded.

  • @mercywas
Watching your video’s with all of the scenic shots is like watching a National Geographic special.
  • @davidmara4149
Love your adventures! Safe travels as I’m virtually traveling with you

You have a beautiful rig. It is pretty gutsy going with black but when it shines like yours, it is the most beautiful color there is. You are a better man than most!
  • Cool info on the San Andreas fault! I'm a science geek who loves nature documentaries and I don't remember ever hearing & actually seeing imagery on it! Excellent class, professors!

Interesting seeing you break camp. As always, loved this video.

The need to mount the bikes on the back of the trailer with a rigg that big is impressive. And: THIS is a pickup of some size.
  • I held my breath turning that corner 😮 nice to see you open door for Sondra…I take it Sondra doesn’t enjoy hikes as much as you do?? Beautiful episode…thanks for taking us along … until next time 🇨🇦 ❤

Although I’m sorry to not see Joshua Tree, doing things you hadn’t done before should always be priority. I enjoyed seeing some of the prep it takes to move locations. That’s a lot of work and I’m sure you didn’t show 1/2 of it. The Palms to Pines scenic highway was great and looks like my kind of drive. As always, thanks for taking us along and sharing you time and talent. P.S. I wasn’t able to avoid Covid. My husband shared before he knew he had it. Good news is we are pretty much over it and it was a fairly mild case. Take care and I will look forward to seeing Death Valley.
  • I just never want your videos to end. A week is too long to not see what you've been up to. Anyway, thanks for taking us along.
