In this video I talk about the Mexican Fan Palm (Washingtonia robusta) and show the one that I have. This palm is native to Northwestern Mexico and is a very popular palm in the Southwest U.S. in places such as California. It is also grown in South Texas as well as the Coastal Southeast U.S. and throughout much of Florida. These palms have a very fast growth rate and love full sun.

I just bought two of the hybrids, Washingtonia Filibusta from HD for $20 each. What a deal!! These hybrids are listed as hardy to 10⁰ F. I will still protect it the first year until it establishes good. Mine look a lot like your Robusta. Beautiful palms. Be careful of the thorns though!

Love your channel! I'm a palm tree junkie too! I live in Fairfield, California and I have three palms: two Phoenix Roebelenii and a Phoenix Canariensis. All are potted. When I FINALLY get a house after I make my move to Las Vegas, the plan is to plant a Washingtonia Robusta. The other three will be planted as well. I love palms. Truly unique plants!

I know I already made a Mexican Fan Palm video, but the palm in my other video had an issue and I had to get a different one, but I also wanted my video to be on the palm that I will actually plant in the ground so I can document its growth over time. I also didn't like my other video as much so I decided to just make a whole new one. Thanks for watching! More videos are coming soon.

Right on, put it in the ground! I've got a few growing in pots that I'll put in the ground here shortly.

You're going to be amazed at how fast that grows this year if you put t in the ground! Weekly fish fertilizer and miracle grow in a 2 gallon watering can. You won't regret that!
