As someone who never read the books, Game of Thrones started getting bad right after Tyrion left King's Landing. Don't let yourself be gaslit Jackson!

Jackson is 1000% correct about Game of Thrones, the rest of you are smoking crack. The cracks began to show as soon as Season 5 was about halfway over, all of the ad libbed shit they threw in was awful. Arya arc was done awfully, Sansa was awful, leaving out Caitlyn/Stoneheart, giving shit tons of screen time to flanderized Tyrion spouting one liners. There were several parts of Seasons 5 and 6 that were great, Battle of the Bastards being one, getting their revenge on Ramsey, Hardhome etc but those were the culminations of story lines that were built entirely up in previous seasons and pulled from the books. The big set pieces of S5 and S6 glossed over the big drop in writing quality, especially with Littlefinger getting caught in a ridiculous trap, Varys becoming not just sexually but completely impotent, and Arya being the WORST PERSON TO KILL THE NK EVER. Daenerys can't be helped because she sucks in the books too. The writing was on the wall as soon as they went off-book in parts of S5 and S6 and sure, the casual fan with no prior knowledge may not have noticed it but go back and watch it, you can hear the wheels coming off.
