Myanmar’s military took power from an elected government after detaining civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi and several other politicians on February 1, 2021. The coup came after Suu Kyi’s party won landslide victory in a November 8 election, which the military claimed to be fraudulent.

Yeah, its a nightmare that cant even be imagined me and my family had experienced. Myanmar now are just like my country, Cambodia before. After a beautiful morning, troops arrived to the capital of Phnom Penh just like the troops arrived in Naypyidaw. They cut all the communications, blocked the road to the airport and then everything changed till 1979

It’s funny how the US and other western countries continue to call Myanmar 🇲🇲 Burma. Burma is a colonial name given to the country by the British.

Imagine these soldiers in this coup have family members who hate them and what they're doing.
  • This is a difficult situation because it is Myanmar's own constitution that gives the military the legal grounds to stage a coup such as this and foreign intervention could lead to a far worse situation than a military dictatorship if mishandled, especially after what happened in Libya after Gaddafi.

Can't imagine how terrified the people were. Soon, they would definitely be isolated from outside world like North Korea. 🤧🤧🤧🤧
